Mia and Charlotte arrived first. They grabbed a table that would be large enough for everyone before Mia left to get some drinks. While she was at the bar, Sorscha, Clodagh, Autumn, and Winter arrived as well. Sorscha went up to join Mia, ordering drinks for the new arrivals. The group sat, and all started chatting. After another half an hour, Marjorie arrived with Siobhan and Viv. Reece had driven them all into town, and he'd walked down the road to check into the hotel Carly had booked, so they had the key for whatever time they were going to be finished at the bar.
As Reece walked into the bar, he heard everyone before he saw them. Sorscha was animatedly telling a story involving one of the parents from earlier in the day and above the laughter from the rest of the table he could pick out one of his favourite sounds in the world. Marjories laugh. He went straight to the bar and asked if a tab had been opened for the table yet, he figured after all the crap he'd put them through, the group getting drunk on his dads money was rather fitting.
"Hi Reece. Check you out in a shirt! Special Occasion?" Behind the bar was their usual waitress, Sara. "No, they all bought their drinks separately. I can start one for you, though."
"Please, Sara." He said, handing over his card. He did a quick headcount to see if all 10 of them were there before ordering. "1 bottle of white, 1 bottle of red, 2 bottles or rose, 1 pint of Guinness, 4 glasses of your 25 year old single malt and 10 tequilas, please. No occasion, but after seeing Marjorie this evening, jeans and a t-shirt weren't gonna cut it." He knew his audience. Clodagh preferred white wine, Winter and Mia red, Marjorie, Char, and Aut usually drank rose although Aut would drink anything. Himself, Mia Siobhan and Viv would want Whiskey, if there was a good one available and he already knew there was, and if it was on tap, Sorscha could never turn down a Guinness. The tequila's were because he knew Aut, Mia, and Marjorie well enough to know that would inevitably be the next round.
She paused upon hearing the largest order she'd ever had for the group in one go. As she thought about it, though, she'd seen them all put away a lot more than that in the past. It was just never ordered in one go. "Is that for the night or just to start?"
"Probably just for Aut." he said with a wink.
Sara laughed, "Go sit down, I'll bring it all over."
He went and joined the table, taking the last seat, which was next to Marjorie. As he sat down, she shuffled her chair closer to him and leant back onto his shoulder, a glass of wine in hand. "Did you not get yourself a drink, my love?" She asked as he slid one arm around her. She could already tell before they left the house that he was going to struggle to keep his hands to himself this evening and judging by the way he'd made sure he was as close a possible to her she was right. She smirked as his other hand landed in her thigh and started tracing patterns over it. She could tell he was going to find it hard to control himself tonight.
"I've started a tab and ordered a load for everyone. Should keep us going for a little bit."
"If I'd have known the night was on you, Reecey, I would have waited for you to arrive before ordering my drink and got something more expensive." Mia commented with a smirk.
"Actually, I'm considering this one on my dad."
Mia looked around the table. "A bottle of the most expensive drink on the menu each then?" She laughed.
"Amelia May!"
"Sorry, sweetheart."
"Let's just see how the night goes, Mia." Reece replied, rolling his eyes. He looked up and saw Sara approaching the table, another waitress with her each carrying two trays. As she put the trays down, the others all looked at Reece in shock. They'd been expecting a glass of something each, not what he'd ordered. Mia leapt straight on one of the whiskeys, and Autumn picked up a bottle of wine, topping up her glass instantly. The others all knew which was intended for them. Some were just a little more subdued and didn't reach straight for them if they still had some of their earlier drink left.
Sara shot a wink at Marjorie as she turned to leave. "You were right Reece, you definitely needed to up your game if you plan on making sure she goes home with you and not someone else tonight." She laughed, causing Marjorie to blush slightly.
As conversation and laughter continued, some of the group (Charlotte, Marjorie, and Clodagh) were steadily getting more tipsy than the others. Marjorie and Clodagh had an excuse. Marjorie hadn't drank at all since she found out she was pregnant, and she was lightweight before. Clodagh had drank, but not a lot since having Quinn and Charlotte was just always a lightweight, and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. Between Reece, Mia, and Autumn, more drinks were being ordered with a regularity, which meant Sara was starting to pre-empt the next bar visit for the table and was just appearing with more. By this point, Viv and Reece had switched to pints, and Siobhan and Mia joined the rest on wine.
There was a small platform next to where the group were sitting that had tables and chairs on it when they arrived. Throughout the evening, these had been getting cleared away. No one had really thought anything of it until Sara came over to the table with a folder.
"It's Karaoke tonight, guys. Will any of you be giving us a song?" She asked, trying to sound innocent but looking particularly at Marjorie. She had been working many a night when a drunk Marjorie had started dancing on tables. She was curious to see what she would be like if given an actual stage. To begin with, there was a chorus of no's from the table, but Marjorie and Charlotte started to flick through the folder, looking at the song choices with Mia having her say as well. Viv was sat on the other side of Reece. He leant back and said, "You wanted to see drunk Marjorie in action? I have a feeling you might end up getting more than you bargained for." He chuckled.
He suddenly heard the trio gasp and then start giggling and talking amongst themselves. "Girls? A word." Mia said, pulling Charlotte, Marjorie, Autumn, Siobhan, and Sorscha away from the table. The four left sitting at the table were confused watching a very animated conversation take place out of earshot. Whatever they were discussing, Autumn and Siobhan didn't seem sold on the idea. There were soon looks shot back at the table in the directions of Winter and Viv, and the two ladies seemed to admit defeat and agree to whatever was being discussed.
"Do any of you know what's going on?" Reece leant in and asked the other three. They were all as confused as each other. The girls were obviously planning something. The question is... What?
