CHAPTER SEVENTEEN ━━━━━━━
WATCH IT TURN BLACK.
JAMIE FUCKING TARTT WAS GONE.
Gone without a goodbye.
Gone in a way that once upon a time, Robyn would have wished for a day like this to happen. But now that it had, she couldn't help the conflicted feeling deep in her stomach. It didn't help that on that Monday morning – the day she thought she was going to see him in the locker room like usual – the article that made headlines was about the pair of them.
Someone had taken a photograph of them sitting in the stands after the sacrifice. Blowing it completely out of proportion. In the article it mentioned that the two were in a secret relationship (complete lie), that they shared a kiss moments before the photo was taken (another lie) and the fact that this had been going on since before the event when Robyn bid on Jamie – and won a date with him – (yet another, horrendous lie).
She instantly got in touch with Keeley. Not wanting the woman to think that she had been sneaking with her boyfriend behind her back. But Keeley was more than understanding about the article. Knowing very well that Robyn was not the type of woman to ever do such a thing. And the bidding had been completely consensual from all parties involved, especially Keeley.
But even though Keeley knew that nothing had been going on between Robyn Welton and Jamie Tartt whilst Jamie was still with her, she couldn't deny that she had noticed a slight shift in the pair of them in recent weeks. Especially with Robyn's behaviour once Jamie had left Richmond and was back at Manchester City. She seemed far more on edge and the smile on her lips didn't seem to reach her eyes.
But Robyn was quick to deny anything and everything Keeley was trying to suggest. No matter how many times Keeley assured her that she was completely and utterly over Jamie and would have been more than ecstatic for Robyn and Jamie to try and work things out between them.
("You two look so cute together. I mean just look at how he's staring at you in this photo!" Keeley had gushed, shoving the image of Jamie and Robyn sitting side by side on the stands. And Although Robyn wasn't looking at Jamie, he was most definitely looking at her. His eyes soft. His lips upturned in a smile rather than a smirk. His whole posture looking relaxed. He looked like a completely different person than usual.
"You're just seeing things, Keeley," Robyn had told her, refusing to meet eye contact though, "He wasn't even looking at me, but past me."
Keeley had groaned in frustration and turned to Rebecca, "You agree with me on this, right?"
Rebecca looked surprised to have been included in the conversation. She looked up from checking her luggage, "I mean, he certainly does look much more at ease than usual. You both do," She said, nodding at Robyn.
