CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE ━━━━━━━
MAN CITY VS. RICHMOND.
'YES' WAS THE ONLY ANSWER JAMIE HAD TO THE QUESTION HE'D BEEN ASKED BY ROBYN.
He didn't even need time to think about it. His mouth just said the word whilst his heart beat rapidly in his chest.
She smiled to herself as she invited him in, and he got comfortable on the couch very quickly. As if he'd been there thousands of times before (despite never having been inside her home). She brought over some drinks and an ice pack for her knee, feeling the ache in it from all the running she had done that day.
And although Jamie did stay the whole night. They didn't do anything sexual. They simply moved themselves up to Robyn's king sized bed, laid in each other's arms and just talked.
Spoke about anything and everything.
From Robyn confessing to Jamie about who was in charge of the photo of the two that was leaked, to Jamie telling her about how the visit over to Keeley's went (desperately promising her that even though Keeley was going to tell Roy that the two exes had sex that day, it most certainly wasn't true; apparently Roy had done something to upset the blonde and she wanted to make him jealous, although Jamie didn't know exactly what happened whereas Robyn did, having been informed by Keeley about the kiss she and Roy shared in Liverpool before he literally ran away from her without a word and therefore she believed everything Jamie told her).
She even told him about Nate's recent promotion to an assistant coach. Although he was talented with football strategies, Robyn confessed that the promotion left a strange and uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach. Mainly due to Nate's behaviour the day of the Everton match as well as his loud and misogynistic outburst at Rebecca when he thought he was getting fired.
They spoke like old friends.
Like two people who had always liked one another.
Two people who were insanely comfortable with each other.
And although not all of their actions were friendly (they had occasionally found themselves making-out during that night), it was certainly the friendliest they've ever been with one another and they both found out a lot about each other.
Robyn learned that Jamie's favourite colour used to be blue, only for him to confess that recently he'd been finding himself more drawn to green. She learned that he used the word 'cucky' rather than 'custard'. Something that caused her to laugh so hard when she first heard him say that she had tears pooling in her eyes. She learned that he had a Roy Kent poster up in his childhood bedroom (and still had to this day) despite the fact that the two of them never seemed to get on whilst at Richmond together.
