We ate the delicious, warm waffles on the cold winters day.  The breeze was cold so when we got back into the car, we turned the heat to a suitable temperature for the cold wind blowing outside.

"Hey can we stop in town for a bit?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure honey. What did you need to get?"

He has no idea what I need. I don’t even know what I need but it'll be a surprise for him.

"Just wanting to look. Maybe buy a few things."

"Fine by me." He said and we started driving towards our local mall.

The shops weren't that far away from the place we had breakfast this morning which was pretty good.

We got to the shopping centre, got out and locked the car. As I walked around the car, I looked for Kieran who had gone somewhere while I wasn't looking. I kept walking ahead towards the shops because I thought he was behind me.

I looked around before crossing the path but some bastard driver was paying attention to his phone.

The last thing I saw was the guys face in horror just as I turned around. I just completely blanked out after that.

Kieran's P.O.V

I heard a screeching sound of rubber tires against the pavement. I walked from behind my car to see my Melly on the floor with a guy asking her questions while she was unconsious. I ran to the guy and picked him up by the front of his shirt.

"What the hell happened to my girlfriend?! Why weren't you looking you a-hole!" I screamed. He looked so shameful and he better from what I saw.

He explained what had happened and I just got so furious.

I called the ambulance to come get Melissa and I called my mum to collect my car from the car park. I called Mel's family and told them to meet me at the nearest hospital.

I ran to my quickly bruised girlfriend and held her hand because I didn't want to lift her in case she broke something.

The ambulance arrived and got my baby onto the stretcher and wheeled her into the van. I convinced the paramedics to let me in with her. Tears stated coming to my eyes as I tried not to let them fall. I texted my mum to tell her what's happening now and to get my car as soon as possible no matter what they were researching this time.

As I looked at Mel the tears in my eyes fell to see her so broken now. Before she was like my fragile glass ballerina the every girl wants to have sitting up on there window sill. But now she was my broken ballerina.

It didn't take us very long to get to the hospital. We went in and a nurse came to stop me from going anywhere besides the waiting room. I sat in the corner of the room with my elbows resting on my knees and my hands covering my face, shielding everyone from seeing me cry. I waited for 5 minutes for Melissa's and my families to get here.

Mel's mum came straight for me with red puffy eyes which told me she'd been crying too. She pulled me from my chair and encased me in a hug. After hugging my whole family, I told them the long and painful story.

About an hour later, a different nurse from before, called out Mel's name. We all stood up and I asked them kindly if I could get a moment alone with her. They told me to go ahead. The nurse explained to me that she was in a coma and they had no idea when she would wake up and she only had a few broken ribs, bruises and cuts but that was it.

I walked into the room she was in and paced to her bedside.  I took her hand in mine and stroked it with my thumb. I sat down in the chair beside her bed. I kissed her hand and told her how much I love her.

"I'm so, so sorry for what happened to you. I would rather it be me in this bed than you. I love you so much it hurts sometimes. Things have changed between us for better and worse but it hasn't changed my feelings for many years. I want to be with you forever. We have been through so much together and I really hope you wake up soon."

I leant up to kiss her on the cheek and placed her hand back next to her limp body.

I walked out to the waiting room once again and told our families they could come in.

I walked along next to Cameron as he walked slowly getting used to the boot he's been given to wear as his leg gets better. I helped him keep his balance as he limped along by holding his arm.

We all walked in together to see the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
