Dorothy's POV
Yesterday's party was a blast and Dad loved it. I think I got my extroversion from because Mom is a complete introvert.
Well, nothing fun lasts forever.
I am back to the bustling hallways of school and now I have to go for basketball tryouts.
I figured that I could do basketball and surfing together since I'm pretty athletic.
I squirmed through the rows of endless students and walked into the gym where I met up with Layla.
It was filled with a dozen students they were all on the other side of the gym.
I stuffed my phone into my back pocket and strolled to the end of the room.
When I got to the middle of the gym, I felt something wet and cold trickle onto me.
Paint.
I wiped it away with the sleeve of my shirt.
"Oh my gosh, Dori," Layla commented.
The other students rushed towards me.
No, I'm not fine. The paint was stinging my eyes.
Layla brought towels and tried to wipe the paint off.
"Who did this?!" My voice trembled with anger.
After the burning sensation left my eyes I looked around the room and saw Bella cackling in the corner.
That b-
I was about to annihilate her.
Layla grabbed my arm. Probably sensing my anger."Dori, calm down you can kill her later. Let's just get you some new clothes and maybe take a shower in the locker room," Layla tried to cool my nerves.
I huffed, "Fine".
Sophie has spare clothes in her locker I just need to find her.
Sophie's POV
After I gave Dorothy the spare clothes in my locker.
She came back furious.
"That was my favorite hoodie and it's now ruined by paint! Bella's a witch! What is wrong with her? Oh, my days and second this outfit is your style, not mine. Then, it's going to take hours to get all the paint out of my hair. I am going to kill her if I get her, "Dorothy ranted.
I mean her hair was waist-length and wavy. It had so much volume and most girls would die for it.
Good luck to her.
"I'm going to the principal's office," She mumbled and stormed off.
Note to self don't make Dorothy angry for the next week wait no don't make her angry for a month.
Nichole walked up to me, "What's wrong with her". She pointed in Dorothy's direction.
"Bella poured paint on her and she's pissed," I comment.
"Good luck, living with her," Nichole replied.
I've known Nichole since I was 3 so we know each other extremely well.
The group of students who were next to us moved when they started to gossip about me.
Wow, very mature. My thoughts began to drift off when I felt something grab me and shove me into an empty classroom.
I turned around, "Why?!" I tried to shout but it sounded like a breathy whisper.
"Naylene's missing," Nichole said her calm demeanor slipping.
"First of all never shove me again," I said.
The last time I was shoved by Mr Brian or Theo my head split open and I had to get my head stitched.
It was painful, say the least.
"I am not kidding she hasn't come home for 2 days I'm worried," Nichole said her voice slightly trembling.
"She's an adult she's probably fine," I know Naylene isn't fine. There was something off about her at Dad's surprise party.
"Sophie please I'm begging you. You found your Dad so please find my sister before it's too late," Nichole begged.
"The last time I tried to find someone I almost died, I'm not sure," I said the wave of uncertainty fueling my decision.
"Please Naylene is like a sister to you. She's in danger," Naylene continued to plead with me.
I let out a long sigh, "I'll think about it".
She pulled me into a hug, "At least it's better than no".
Nichole walked out of the room and left me there with my thoughts.
Dorothy's POV
I sat in the principal's office, listening to Bella saying lies upon lies about me.
"Dorothy you have detention," The principal said.
"How is that fair? She poured paint on me," My anger belted out.
"Do you want to get suspended? Then I suggest you leave," The principal pointed at the door.
I picked up my school bag and stormed out of there, shaking with anger.
***
I was doing my homework angrily. I think the best when I'm angry.
I heard a knock on my door and Sophie came in, "Naylene's missing. She hasn't come home for two days".
I raised an eyebrow in shock.
"But Nichole wants us to investigate but I don't know. You remember what happened last time," Sophie said as she plopped down on my bed.
"Why don't we? I promise you won't get hurt this time," I said.
"Fine, so where do we start?" She asked.
***
We bought a new corkboard and hung it on the wall putting push pins and red yarn in a basket underneath it.
At the top, I wrote :
Where is Naylene Millers?
"So where do we start?" I asked.
"We find suspects. Find out who is the last person who saw her," Sophie reasoned.
The first 72 hours of the person's disappearance is critical. If the are not found within that time, they chances of finding them alive are low.
We need to search now before it's to late.
