Freen stormed into the house, her voice echoing through the space. "Becky, I need to talk to you!"
Becky, lounging on the couch, looked up with mild curiosity. "Relax, Freen. What's got you so worked up today?"
Freen eagerly sat down beside her, her energy brimming. "You won't believe what happened today!"
Becky smiled, pinching Freen's cheek. "Wow, my love looks so happy. What is it?"
Freen's eyes lit up as she launched into her story. "I had an ad shoot today, and there were so many adorable babies there. They were so cute, Becky!"
Becky's smile faltered, and her face turned serious. Freen noticed immediately.
"Becky? What's wrong?" Freen asked, gently shaking Becky's shoulder.
"Nothing," Becky said quickly. "Go on, finish your story."
Freen took Becky's hand in hers, her gaze softening. "Sweetheart, can we... can we plan for a baby?" she asked, her tone filled with hope.
Becky stiffened and abruptly stood up from the couch.
"Bec!" Freen called out, following her and wrapping her arms around her waist from behind.
"Freen, I don't want a baby," Becky said firmly.
Freen turned her around to face her. "Becky, if we have a baby, it will bring so much happiness to our lives. It'll make us complete."
"So, you're saying you're not happy now?" Becky retorted, pulling Freen's hands off her.
"That's not what I meant!" Freen explained. "But having a baby would bring a new kind of joy, a different kind of love between us."
Becky walked toward the dining table, trying to shift the conversation. "Freen, drop it. I'm hungry. Let's eat."
Freen stood her ground. "I need a baby, Becky," she said, her voice resolute.
Becky stopped in her tracks and turned to face her. "Freen, our life won't be what you think it will if we have a baby."
"How can you be so sure?" Freen asked, frustration creeping into her voice.
"Because I know," Becky snapped. "I know what Richee and I went through."
Freen looked at her, confused. "What are you talking about?"
Becky's voice broke as she started to explain. "My mom and dad used to fight constantly. They loved each other before I was born, but after I came into their lives, it was different. Their disagreements grew, and I had to watch it all."
"That's normal," Freen replied gently. "Couples have disagreements, Becky."
"It wasn't normal!" Becky shouted, her emotions spilling over. "My mom used to say she regretted having me during their fights. Do you know how that feels, Freen?"
Freen stepped closer, trying to comfort her. "Becky, listen to me. That won't happen with us. I believe in us."
"No!" Becky pushed Freen's hands away, tears brimming in her eyes. "I don't want to risk it. I don't want a baby."
"Why is it always about what you want?" Freen shot back, frustration seeping into her tone. Grabbing her keys, she started walking toward the door.
"So now you're mad at me?" Becky yelled after her.
"Its better to be in studio," Freen said, opening the door.
"See?" Becky's voice cracked as tears spilled over. "We're already fighting, and we don't even have a baby yet."
Freen slammed the door shut behind her, leaving Becky standing in the living room. Her tears came in waves as she sank onto the couch, her sobs echoing in the empty space.
