Weeks went by and Undertaker had taught me a lot of things since then, from fighting till being his assistant as a mortician. The shop worked just as much, getting twice as many customers in and under the ground. For the humans, we were nothing but an odd couple, especially because we both hide out eyes behind our bangs. It is still hard to work without the glasses, but I am getting there. If I wasn't dead already, I would have broken my neck on several occasions. At least he had something to laugh at.
One day, he announced that we should take a trip.
He didn't tell me where to, but he sure wanted me to come along. In the meantime, his shop will be closed. Since we both need no luggage, only our death scythes, we were ready and set. Undertaker however, wanted to visit someone before we leave. I had a bad feeling about this, as I asked who that might be. Just making an impression of a butler...made it way too obvious.
"Do we have go?"
"It wouldn't hurt to pay them a visit."
"We haven't seen them for so long, are you sure that this is a good idea?"
Undertaker shrugged, "I have known the Phantomhives for a very long time, they won't mind."
"I didn't mean the Earl."
He knew exactly who I meant. The reaper got close, kissing the back of my hand, "He has no choice but to obey."
Said and done, we headed over towards the mansion.
Of course, Sebastian wasn't pleased to see us at the door. Asking of what we wanted, undertaker demanded to see the master of the house. But as I was about to follow the mortician, he stopped me by my shoulder, "Why don't you keep the butler company darling? It won't be long." Is he serious?! Sebastian didn't show any sign of happiness, he looked awful.
"What happened to you?"
He tried to give a deadly glare, only to look even more tired than before, "Same to you. You became a reaper."
"You don't like it?"
"No..." he said, frowning deeply, "...I hate it."
"Charming as ever, I see you got your master back."
"Apparently" his voice didn't sound pleased, more disgusted. His gaze went from my head to my feet and back up again, "You have changed." I didn't the same thing, biting my lip, "But you haven't much, only that you look exhausted." He sighted loud, offering me to join him in the kitchen. Since he had to make food the master won't eat anyway, he wanted to stick to the strict schedule as always. Helping him out, like the old times, he told me what happened. I got a little tense, as he mentioned the part with the missing books and the occasional visits from the reapers. He assured me that this was not his doing. It is hard to tell if that is true, considering after all he has done. Keeping my opinions to myself, I also told him about my journey with Undertaker. The butler looked away, "So I won't see you around?"
"Not for the time being."
Sebastian wanted to say something, as a black cat meowed next to him. Finding it sweet as it moved aside the butler's leg, I asked him if I could feed it some fish. Sebastian nodded slowly, looking at how the cat was in my arms, eating away the tiny fish. Suddenly, it began to meow again. The butler sighted, "not now N/A."
I raised a brow, "I didn't say anything."
He pointed at the cat, "I meant her."
Surprised, I let the feline go, "You named her after me?" Moved I went behind the butler, touching his back slightly, "Do you miss me?"
The butler hesitated, "...sometimes..."
Reaching for his shoulder, he moved away. He didn't show his face, but according to this voice, he wasn't happy at all. We stood there for a while, no one stoke up. He continued his work and I watched him move around. Not long after that, his master was heard, calling out to his butler.
"I guess it is time for you to leave", he said, holding his hand up towards me.
I took it, only to get closer to him. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I gave him one final kiss. It wasn't long, but it sure made the demon freeze up. As our lips parted, I whispered into his ear, "Farewell...demon."
Sebastian was at loss for words, not sure of how to take this on. In silence, we walked side by side, till we reached the main doors of the mansion. Undertaker and Ciel were already waiting, including another figure. I got worried, realizing who that was.
"Where have you been doll?!"
"Grell, what are you doing here?"
The red haired reaper had his hand on his hips, "I had the job to find you and now I have to see you with...Sebbbbbyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!" I was off the hook at this point. Moving aside, he crashed into the butler like an American footballer. The butler had no strength to hold against it, falling to the ground. Ciel was embarrassed by this, while Undertaker and I had to suppress a laugh. As fast as the tantrum began, Grell was back to business, facing me again, "You darling are in big trouble."
Fearing the worst, by returning back to the reapers world, getting parted with Undertaker and work for all eternity as a reaper, something else came up. Grell went through his coat to reveal a pink death scythe with hearts on them, "Because of you, no human is taking me serious with this thing!"
I giggled slightly, "Why, it looks cute."
"Cute...cute?! It is pink!!!!"
"So?"
The reaper began to kneel down, feeling depressed now, "Why couldn't it be red?!"
"Is that all that bothers you?!" I snapped.
He cried out that his life is over and the reputation he had build up was crushed. Way too dramatic for my taste... like the drama queen I know. Undertaker smiled wide, patting Grell's head, "It is not so bad and it sure gets the message across."
Sebastian, Ciel and I had to watch as Grell attacked Undertaker, trying to choke him, "Are you saying I am ugly?!!!!!"
Undertaker just laughed it off, as the choking attempt had no effect on him. Grell whined around, now clinging on to Sebastian, "Sebby baby, I am not ugly am I?" The demon growled, "You are a disease to my eyes." A hard comment for the red haired reaper, I waited, expecting another big drama scene to come up.
"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Sebby...you really know how to complement a woman. Let me have your children!" Like the demon isn't punished enough. It got worse as this reaper followed the butler back into the kitchen. I feel sorry for the demon. Undertaker chuckled at this, "He sure will be busy."
"I guess so."
Now it was time to leave this place. The young Earl, we finally had time to greet me, kissed my hand tenderly, "I wish you a good journey N/A. We might see each other again." "Thank you Ciel...for everything." Grabbing Undertaker's hand, we left the mansion together. For Sebastian another hit in the gut, seeing us leave the estate, hand in hand. He hates to admit it, but he was defeated. One thing was for sure...
...Live is cruel...not only to humans.
