It was 11pm, and Nickel was restless, brimming with energy. He hadn't experienced his usual crash yet, making it difficult to fall asleep. A very dull day had left him without any opportunities to expend his excess energy, as nothing eventful had happened to provide an outlet. Earlier, Nickel had been observing Fries with his other friends, for some reason. There was something about Fries calling Evil Leafy that had everyone's curiosity, but Tennis Ball didn't seem too concerned about it, so Nickel decided to disregard it as well.

Nickel had made an attempt to hang out with Tennis Ball today, but his friend decided to spend the day with Golf Ball instead. They spent most of their time discussing nerdy subjects related to the previous competition. As they talked, Nickel overheard Golf Ball refer to him as a nuisance and tell Tennis Ball to stay focused and not get carried away by his antics. He wasn't entirely sure what that was all about; after all, he always had fun with Tennis Ball. Sure, he had kicked that bizarre purple rock into the future, which seemed to really upset both Tennis Ball and Golf Ball, but it couldn't be that big of a deal– right?

Nickel hadn't had the chance to spend time with Tennis Ball... and then Book and Needle were with Freesmart. Pin and Coiny had been following Fries around, being their usual weird selves. While he could have spoken to Bomby in the W.T.F., it felt somewhat awkward between them lately. So, instead, Nickel had spent the day behind a bush, drawing to pass the time. Now, as the clock struck 11pm, he was still hyper with energy, restlessness keeping him wide awake.

As Nickel saw Tennis Ball settling down in a Yoyle bush, he couldn't help but laugh and skip over to the bush. He gleefully called out with a mischievous grin, "Peekaboo!"

Tennis Ball shrieked and spun around, startled. "Don't do that!" he scolded Nickel, clearly not amused by the sudden scare.

Nickel apologized with a casual "my bad" and wiggled out of the bush, plopping down in front of Tennis Ball and flashing a wide, goofy smile.

Tennis Ball sighed deeply, mulling over Golf Ball's words. She had warned him that associating with Nickel would hinder his chances of winning, especially considering the consequences of Nickel's antics. Golfie's seriousness on the matter was evident. However, Tennis Ball found himself at a loss on how to distance himself from Nickel, as the little guy seemed constantly glued to his side. Nowhere was safe from Nickel's shadow.

Despite knowing that he needed to establish some distance between them, Tennis Ball was reluctant to outright tell Nickel to leave him alone. Their previous encounter left Nickel visibly upset, leaving Tennis Ball torn between pleasing Golf Ball and maintaining their friendship. However, with Golf Ball's stern warnings and the risk of losing another game due to Nickel's antics, Tennis Ball recognized the importance of setting boundaries. He decided that the time had come to address the situation directly, realizing that beating around the bush wouldn't yield the desired result.

"Nickel I think you should hang out with–" He was about to tell Nickel to go make new friends and leave him alone, when Nickel interrupted him.

"I have a game idea! Wanna play?" Nickel smiled widely, he was shaking with excitement as he stared up at Tennis Ball.

Tennis Ball spoke firmly, making his point clear to Nickel. "Nickel!! We can't afford to play games right now! We need to focus on prepping for the next competition or preventing our elimination. Your carelessness is directly responsible for us possibly being voted off. So, no, I'm not interested in playing a game!" He glanced up at the sky, emphasizing the late hour. "We must prioritize sleep instead. This is not the time for nonsense."
