Victorian. That was her style , down to every detail.

I watched her closely. She was nothing like Reenay at all. That smile was fake, that much I could tell, but it was hiding something underneath, perhaps a genuine soul.

I could feel it too, better yet I could see it whenever she maintained eye contact with me.

Her eyes.

Hazel? Like Cyrus. No, they were brighter, like sparkling flames.
So much light danced within them, yet why do I feel a bitter sadness that they carry.

Her skin was pale, and her features were soft. With every word that came out of her mouth , was a gentle small smile towards me even though I was not even included in the conversation.

What are they even talking about???

Reenay nudged me and broke my gaze.

"Did you hear me y/n?"

I took notice of the other woman's curious eyes and then cleared my throat.

"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."

My bluntness was acknowledged by both a scowl from Reenay and a light chuckle of amusement from that lady.

"We simply asked you if you didn't like the tea, since you have been holding your cup so dearly on your lap."

Her voice calm, my eyes traced her lips noticing a beauty mark just below it, faint yet visible. It almost reminded me of something that I still am not able to remember clearly.

"Sorry, I'm not really a fan of tea, not anymore at least."

I looked away and returned the cup back to the table.

"Is that so, well my apologies, I had no idea. But I will certainly keep that in mind for when we meet again."

I looked up at her, a little annoyed by the part where she thinks she will see me again.
I hope for Reenay's sake that I never meet any more of her people.

As it is, I'm still trying to escape their sons, yet alone them.

"Our darling y/n over here will be attending the banquet as one of our 'esteemed' guests. So she's staying here until then."

I dare glare at Reenay, not really interested in how my face looks like right now.

"Oh how splendid. You simply must come over at once."

I fathomed her excitement.

"Excuse me?"

"To the Van' Doran Mansion, is what she means. This is a good idea. I hope I'm invited too."

Reenay's teeth are whiter than these floors. I am just glad I am not the one receiving such a creepy smile.

"But of course, you are always welcomed there. Mr. Van' Doran enjoys your company as well. It most certainly will be much livelier with you around. Besides, consider it as an exchange for welcoming me over today to have tea."

I for one, did not agree to such arrangements, yet here I am again without any say in the matter.
Then again, if I am with Reenay, I can at least trust that I would be safe from the boys.

I think.

(if this is for the better, why does this situation feel kinda worse...)
