I dashed down the hall, Miguel and Robby in tow behind me. We caught sight of Rosa and skidded to a halt. In the hallway outside Carmen's room there was a swarm of people: Amanda LaRusso, Daniel , Chosen, a guy I'd never seen before who was dressed in a suit.
"Yaya, how is she?" Miguel pushed, ambushing his grandma immediately.
"She's fine, Miggy. Contractions are strong but I think she will be even better soon." Rosa smiled and I frowned even though a smile was spreading across my face as I realised.
"Rosa, why are we all here?" I asked, looking for confirmation and she grinned back at me.
"Johnny is going to ask Carmen to marry him." She giggled excitedly and we all looked round in joyful shock.
"We're gonna be actual brothers." Robby mused as he grabbed Miguel into a half hug.
"We were already brothers." Miguel confirmed happily.
"Guys, it's on!" Johnny's voice echoed out of the room and I looked around at everyone.
We rushed forwards, Rosa ushering me along with Miguel and Robby as the LaRusso's, Chosen and the extra guy trailed along behind us.
A small band started up at the door and led us in to 'Take My Breath Away' from Top Gun and I got more tearful the closer we got to Carmen, who was grinning cheek to cheek next to Johnny.
Rosa moved around us, carrying a bouquet of flowers and placed her hand supportively on my shoulder on the way past.
I choked back a sob of happiness and Robby and Miguel both placed a hand on my shoulders.
We crowded round them, all of us bursting with pride as we gathered to support Johnny.
"I know this probably isn't how you imagined your wedding day," he started, waving his hands around himself, "But we can do a big celebration later at Don Cuco's if you want."
Suddenly, the extra guy made a whole lot more sense. Johnny's intent was to marry her right here and now, he loved her with so much of his heart that he just couldn't wait.
"Right now, I just wanna be your husband." He announced.
Carmen looked around him and smiled tenderly at us all. "Everybody who I love is here." She whispered and I choked up even more, tears spilling over my cheeks as I smiled at them, "Lets do this." She shifted then widened her eyes in pain, "Quickly."
Johnny made a fist at the guy and we turned to watch him, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two remarkable people."
I looked to Carmen and Johnny, they truly were remarkable, taking me in when I had no where else, coming to find me when I ran away with Miguel, letting me join their family when mine was falling apart.
"Who will remain best friends no matter what the future brings,"
I pictured Eli and Demetri, helping us pack everything we needed so that we could get to the hospital as fast as we could, how they'd always been there, one or the other them and how they always would be.
"Who will help one another grow into stronger individuals,"
I looked between Miguel and Robby, the brothers that I never knew I'd have, that'd helped me to find the best version of me possible and loved me unconditionally when I needed it the most.
"Who will choose to set aside their individual differences to forge something beautiful."
I wrapped my arms around both of them and pulled them tight as we watched Johnny and Carmen get married.
