How to Spend the Last Night of Ramadan
Introduction
The last night of Ramadan is a night of immense blessings, mercy, and spiritual elevation. It is a time when the doors of Allah's forgiveness are wide open, and every moment spent in worship is an opportunity to earn a high rank in Jannah. As this sacred month comes to an end, a believer should strive to maximize acts of worship, seeking Allah's pleasure and mercy.
اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عنا
O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive us.
Ya Allah, as this blessed month nears its end, we turn to You with hearts full of hope and eyes filled with tears. Accept our fasts, our prayers, and our duas. Forgive our shortcomings and grant us sincerity in our worship.
Ya Rahman, do not let this be our last Ramadan. Allow us to witness many more in good health and strong faith. Let the light of Ramadan remain in our hearts long after it departs. Ya Rahman, bless us with the opportunity to witness many more Ramadans in good health and strong faith.
Ya Rabb, grant us the best of this dunya and akhirah. Bless us with guidance, peace, and contentment. Ease our burdens, remove our worries, and replace our fears with tawakkul.
Ya Allah, if we have not yet caught Laylatul Qadr, grant us the strength to worship You in these final nights. Write our names among those who are freed from the Fire and entered into Jannah without reckoning.
O Allah, shower our parents, families, and the entire ummah with mercy. Grant victory to the oppressed, provision to the needy, and healing to the sick.
Ya Allah, do not let this Ramadan pass without accepting us as Your beloved servants. Keep us steadfast beyond Ramadan, and let our hearts remain attached to You always.
آمين يا رب العالمين
The Significance of the Last Night of Ramadan
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (رحمه الله) said:
"The righteous predecessors would exert themselves in worship during the last ten nights of Ramadan more than any other time. And when the month was coming to an end, they would strive even harder, fearing that they may not have done enough."
The Prophet (ﷺ) also emphasized the importance of the last night of Ramadan:
"Indeed, the last night of Ramadan is a night of forgiveness for all." (Musnad Ahmad, 7470, Grade: Hasan)
It is a night of mercy when Allah frees many from the Hellfire. Therefore, it is crucial to dedicate this night to acts of worship and gratitude.
Acts of Worship to Perform on the Last Night of Ramadan
1. Pray Qiyam Al-Layl (The Night Prayer)
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"Whoever stands (in prayer) in the nights of Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven." (Sahih al-Bukhari 1905, Sahih Muslim 760)
Qiyam al-Layl, especially in the last hours of Ramadan, carries immense rewards. One should strive to pray long rak'ahs, reciting as much Qur'an as possible, and making heartfelt du'as.
What to Recite in Qiyam Al-Layl
It is recommended to recite Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Aal-e-Imran, and Surah An-Nisa in Qiyam Al-Layl. If that is too difficult, reciting shorter surahs with khushu (humility) is also beneficial.
