"Open the door! It's Hershel! Carl, come one!" Rick shouts.

Carl rushes over and opens the door for them to bring Hershel in.

I noticed that half of his leg was missing.

"Oh my god" I gasped.

"Daddy!" Beth cried.

"Go, go, go, go, go. In there!" Rick points to an empty cell. We rush in.

"Get him on the bed" Rick directs.

"He got bit" Glenn explains.

"Oh my god, he's gonna turn" Beth panics.

"Did you cut it off?" Dale asked.

"Yeah" Rick said.

"Maybe you got it in time" Lori says.

We put our hands under his body, getting ready to lift him.

"Ready? One, two, three" Rick grunts.

We lift Hershel effortlessly onto the bottom bunk. I go to his stump and remove the towel that is covering it.

"Oh, I need bandages" I tell them.

"We used everything we had" Glenn said.

"Well, get more. Anything!" I demand.

"Carl, go get the towels from the back, right next to my bed" Lori tells her son. He rushes to get them.

"Is he gonna die?" Beth asked.

Lori holds her face in her hands, "No, no, no. He's gonna be fine. He's gonna be fine"

"You think you can stabilize him?" Rick asked me.

"I need to keep his leg elevated. Get some pillows!" I order.

"He's already bled through the sheets" Maggie whimpers.

"We can burn the wound to clot the blood. I can start a fire" Glenn recommends.

"No, please don't do this" Beth pleads.

"No, the shock could kill him. It's not gonna stop the arteries from bleeding." I explain, Lori wraps a fresh towel around the stump. "We need to just keep it dressed and let it heal on its own"

We suddenly hear shouting coming from the cafeteria.

"What was that?" Beth asked.

"Prisoners, survivors" Rick explains.

Everyone starts panicking, except me, I continue to put pressure on the stump. I knew they would get handled.

"It's all right. Everybody stay put" Rick softly commands.

Rick and Glenn exit the cell, but Glenn comes back in.

"Where's my brother?" Makena quietly asked.

"Handling the guests" Glenn told her.

I heard her let out a small sigh of relief, knowing that Daryl was okay. I also let out a sigh of relief in my head, but continued working.

"It has to stop eventually right?" Andrea asked as I replaced another bloodied towel with a fresh one.

"It slowed down quite a bit already" Lori said.

"When we get him through this, we'll need crutches" I said.

"Right now, we could use some antibiotics, some pain killers, some sterile gauze" Lori said.
