Part 8

Kalani POV
Sitting the food on top of the table I walk back inside to get the punch bowl "Si can you help me with this bowl please ?" I said holding the top and bottom of it "sure " she says taking the other side " I thought Ronnie and them would be here by now " she replied sitting the bowl on the table it was a lot of people here mostly my family , Si family , neighbors people like that. "Maybe they're running late " I say as the door bell rings " I'll be right back " I replied to her walking to the front door swinging it open just when we were talking about them "glad you could make it! Come in " I say hugging them all "goodness child you're a hugger " Carol says laughing , smiling I reply back "well foods out in the back if you brought swim suits then you can go swimming , my parents are in the back and would probably like to speak to you Ms. Carol and you Mrs. Banks " Saying all in one breath they nod and began to walk inside to the back .

"Well glad you showed up " I hear serenity says from behind me " shut up , I'm going to get some food I'll save you guys a seat in the couch " Ronnie says running to the back yard "stop running in my house !!" I yell smiling and turning back to August "you know what actually I'm kinda hungry too and Chris is waiting for me in the back yard sooo yeah " Si began to say walking off laughing at her attempt to leave us alone I look back up at august "I think we were set up ma' " he replied chuckling walking to the backyard  "tell me about it " I say playfully rolling my eyes smiling and shutting the door and walking beside him " you hungry ?" I ask stepping out into the patio  after August did today I guess I'd actually consider him my friend "duh I wouldn't be walking back here if I wasn't ma ' , use that pretty little brain of yours " he said laughing grabbing a plate walking away , well that was rude somewhat I don't know where to be offended or flattered .

Breaking out my thoughts I grab a plate and head for the Mac and cheese . After I completed my plate I picked up a cup of lemonade and made my way inside where Ronnie said he'd save our seats , looking around I saw no more eats was left besides the recliner making my way to it I hear August say  "hey Ronnie man you won't mind sitting over there would ya?" , "nope not at all I need to lay back any ways ." Ronnie replied back walking over to the recliner sitting down " thanks " I say to August while sitting beside him " no problem " he said back with a smile I can feel everyone starring at us but I'll ignore it this time it's not worth the fight .

August POV
I asked Ronnie to move because I didn't want her to feel left out ,  I look over at the Chris guy raising his eyebrow "what ?" I ask " he trying to figure out what's up with yall Garrett never did that " her friend Serenity said laughing . Never ? Damn some kind of boyfriend he was " Si please .." Kalani pleaded for her to stop " it's alright , but nah nothing's going on we just met " I said with a laugh "mm that's how it starts " he responds drinking some of his punch " so what college you going to Chris ?" Ronnie said with his mouth full "close your mouth Ronnie you know how my mom is if you spill anything on this carpet !" Kalani yelled throwing a pillow at him I laugh and pick up my roll taking a few bites " dang girl you got an aim , I'll be sure to tell coach to sub you in if we're ever short players " Ronnie replied laughing again I even chuckled a bit hell everyone chimed in "shut up Ronnie " she spat back rolling her eyes putting a spoon full on macaroni in her mouth " anywayssss you already know UCLA Ron I told you this  ..... Yall fucking ? " Chris comes out of the blue and says making me choke on the bread I was still chewing .

Looking over I see Kalani choke spitting some of her juice back into her cup "dudeeeee that classic slide in !" Ronnie yelled in between laughters " Chris what the hell !" Kalani yelled standing up walking to him "Chris that was too far " Serenity said getting out of his grip , man that dude Chris has no chill " I was just fooling Aug man you knew I was fooling right ?" He asked pleading for help I guess I get help him out this time "yeah man , just don't joke about that shit no more heard me ? I don't knew her like that just like I don't know you like that got it ?" I said chuckling a bit pulling out my phone going to the App Store . Ian too much into technology but this I could work with , changing the awkward subject I say "hey Ronnie man what's some good apps ? " looking up at him "new phone ?" Kalani said replying back I nod my head turning my attention back to Ronnie .

" man first Instagram , second twitter , third snapchat -" he says as I cut him off " one at a time nigga" I reply laughing typing Instagram in the search bar , clicking it I type in my password and began to download it " man get my number we can FaceTime " Chris said FaceTime ? What is that ? Noticing my face he replies " it's a video call on Apple products , you cal see the person you're talking to ." Nodding my head I look over to see a man coming from the back door he was buff, light skin ,and resembled Kalani that must be her dad .

Stopping in his tracks he turns to me "I don't think I've met you before , I'm Lenard Kalani 's father he said reaching out to shake my hand "na' but I'm August " I said reaching my hand out shaking his " So August where you from ?" He says sitting on the arm of Ronnie's recliner " New Orleans sir " I responded handing my phone to Ronnie to set up the apps and stuff .
"I could tell by your accent I just wanted you to say New Orleans " he said laughing "seems like somebody has a crush " serenity laughed sipping her soda like tea causing us to chime in with laughter " shut your watermelon head ass up " he said messing her hair up making her scream "old man you got some nerve to Joan " she spat back standing up "well all I have to say is .... What are thoooooseee pointing to serenity's sandals" he replied back making us laugh even harder "dad !!" Kalani screamed in between laughs " okay okay , well I'm gone get going nice meeting you August " he says dapping me up walking in the kitchen that's one cool ass dad "he's one cool ass dad " I said laying back on the couch looking at the tv " he cool most of the time but don't let that fool you he strict as hell" Ronnie responded pulling the lever to lift the leg part up on the recliner " he's right about that " Kalani agreed

•August POV/ After cookout •
Getting off of the bus I walk up the stairs to my apartment unlocking the door , as I unlock the door I hear my phone ringing signaling me I have a call . Taking it out of my pocket I look at it and see its from Kalani Ronnie put numbers in my contact and Apps but why is she calling me ? Answering it I put the phone to my ear "hello ?" I said walking to the fridge putting my plate I got from her house inside . I heard a lot of moving around until I heard a voice " sorry that was serenity stupid self she called you" she replied in an annoyed tone laughing I say "it's all good " , " well I know you're tired but um can you call me in the morning since I'm close with everyone else I think we should try to be like that since we'd be going to the same college , or not I don't know what I'm-" I cut her off by saying " ma' it's I said its all good I'll  call you tomorrow yeah ?" , "yeah , okay bye " she said hanging up they something I tell you . Laughing I shook my head putting my phone back into my pocket walking into my room with the bag and the box .

((Sorry for the wait I had writers block and It was my brothers birthday so I was filled up on things to do for that . I'll start updating everyother day because I feel like I'm rushing the story . Comment who you think Kalani dad should be I had some in mind but I have chose yet we'll see you guys Tuesday ! Chris in the picture of course. XO ))
