Another Chance

Do you deserve this?
I say to myself
I knew I would not give a chance like this
To anyone else

You hurt me
But I know you felt bad
You had said you were sorry
You knew I had been mad

I looked into your eyes
I open my mouth to say
I'll give you another chance
And I've loved you since that day

You buy me flowers every week
To remind me that you love me
I gave you that second chance
And I have never been this happy

Do you deserve this?
I say to myself
I knew I would not give this chance
To anyone else

You were my best friend
We had once been so close
I didn't want that to end
But this second chance could hurt the most

You had said you were sorry
For choosing him over me
I had simply said
I accept your apology

But now here is the real test
Do you deserve this second chance
I didn't want to lose you
But I didn't want to be hurt again

I said to you that things were different
You said you understood
I gave you this second chance
This ended better than I thought it would

We have become closer
Even though I still have a scar
It reminds me of the past
But I know my real friend is not far

In the end I realized
That second chances are alright
Sometimes you have to give them a try
And you will sleep better that night
