First

Do you remember
The first time we spoke in two years
Did my words feel familiar
Did I erase your fears

It was the start of summer
The first of July
Listened to you and the waves
As our thoughts collide

I could have sworn
You felt it too
My hopes were as high as the water
When I first fell for you

Then that night
Mid July
The first and last time
You ever saw me cry

Hope it burns in the back of your mind
The first of my pain
Because of you
The one to blame

The smile that faded away
The streaks down my face
The first time you saw me sad
Memory you can't erase

Of broken hearts
That was not the first
It was so hard
I'd say the worst

Not only did you hurt me first
But my best friend did too
You loved her instead
But I kept on loving you

I remember the time when you told me
You wanted someone too
I wanted to say
I long to be the first for you

But that was before this
Before the first of messes you'd make
Before the pain
And all the heart break

I can not look at you the same
I can not look at her at all
Without feeling the sadness I had
The first night you said it all

I would have gave you everything
But she took that from me
Wanted to be your first kiss
Stolen opportunity
