Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock is all I can hear on the clock. I think I'm gonna go crazy if I keep listening to the same thing over and over. I need to get out, but I'm afraid. I'm afraid of everything. I jumped at the slightest of sounds, and I stay still most of the time cause I'm afraid to do something that'll make him angry. Why me? What happened to my sweetheart that I knew? Why did his mother passing away have to make him into his father. Why couldn't I just fucking leave him? Oh right, because Im so fucking in love with him. Fuck, what love does to someone...

As I sit in my chair in the corner of our living room, I'm holding my legs, face in my knees just thinking. As I'm thinking, my phone begins to ring on the nearby table causing me to get up from my comfortable spot and answer it. It's my mother.

"Hello?" I answer softly.

"Carter, would you like to hang out with me today? I have a lot of wedding stuff to finish, and I barely ever see you." She asked.

"Uh, yeah give me a second." I told her, heading my way to Jayden. I knock softly on his study's door and walk in. "Jayden, my mom wants me to help her with her wedding today...is that alright?" I asked with my hand over the phone to keep her from listening. Jayden looked up at me with a hard gaze.

"Sure." He said quick and went back to his work. I gave him a quick smile before returning my attention back to my mother on the phone and leaving.

"Yeah, mom I'll come right over." I smiled to her over the phone and hung up the phone. Before I could grab my jacket, Jayden walked out of his office and over to me.

"I love you." He smiled a little.

"I-i love you too." I stuttered slightly.

"Don't sound like it."

"I do. I really do love you, Jay." I did, but I couldn't help but be scared.

"Then why do you stutter or try backing away from me all the time?" He asked, almost hurt.

"Because I'm afraid you're gonna hurt me." I admitted and took a step away from him.

"I don't mean to hurt you. You're just a stupid bitch sometimes....most of the time. I do it because I love you." He tried to reassure me.

"My mom is waiting for me. I have to go.." I turned away from him and instantly regretted it. He grabbed my arm and snapped me back facing him.

"Don't fucking turn from me like that." Jayden snapped in anger. "What have I told you? Stop turning on me like that." I flinched waiting for the hit but never got it. Well thats weird. "I'm not going to hit you." He spoke softly before letting me go.

"C-can..I g-go?" I stuttered, holding my tears back. Jayden nodded and I left so quickly. I need to get out of this, I just don't know how. I'm afraid if I tell someone, he'll do something worse..like kill me. I don't know what he's capable of.

The whole drive to my mothers was off my brain thinking of all the things I could do to get out of it, but everytime i thought of something I'd realize he'd still probably kill me in the end and I don't want to die. He's scary. I just didn't expect him to be so much like his father. I look back now to the best times we've had. I remember our first kiss...we were in the movies and he just couldn't pay attention. I couldn't either but I tried too. At one point we just both looked at each other and it happened. Our first kiss. It was a special moment even when it doesn't seem that special. Kind of cliché. We also have all those fun times when we were just friends. The roadtrip we went on together when we both turned 18 and I swear I don't think I was any happier. Now he's 23 and totally different than who he was...thats one thing that makes me want to cry. I wish I could bring his mother back, she was the reason he hadn't gone crazy. I miss her so damn much.

After I parked the car, I ran up to my mothers door and knocked politely, waiting for her to open it up. Instead, the young blonde boy answered the door. "Sis!" He smiled widely.

"Hi there." I replied as I stepped into the home. Once I did I spotted Harry. His smile was even bigger when he figured out it was me. I never noticed how handsome he really was. His green eyes being my favorite part of him already. He just seemed to always be in a good mood. I stepped into the house and wasn't greeted by my mother like normal.

"Where's my mother?" I asked curiously as I walked further into the house.

"My father and her had to attend to something. I have no idea when they will be back." Niall informed me.

"Oh. I guess I can wait for a while til she gets back." I decided. "What are you boys up to today?" I asked turning towards them.

"Nothing, but now that you're here I would love to get to know my new family member. You're never around."

"Well, me and Jayden live very busy lives." I answered with a straight face. It was a lie. We never really did anything, only ever stayed in. I walked to the den and sat on the couch and the boys followed.

"Jayden is a nice guy, huh." Harry spoke up finally.

"Very." I gave them a fake smile, that was hopefully believable.

"You don't seem to think so?" Niall asked.

"Jaydens very nice." I say again.

"I don't believe you. He doesn't look nice." Harry shook his head.

"Why do you guys even care?"

"Because I'll be your brother and I've always wanted a sister to bully." He gave me a wink. "Nah, just looking out thats all."

Harrys point of view;

As the two talked I couldn't help but check out Carter. She was beautiful. Long, wavey brown hair with a beautiful body. It was hard not to look at her. I noticed how fake of a smile she had on while talking about Jayden. She seems so unhappy in that relationship.

"Don't worry, I am fine." Carter assured Niall and I. She then took her jacket off revealing her tan skin. Something caught my attention though. Her wrist had a very light colored bruise, almost not noticeable. Then a few other bruises & cut spread throughout her arm, and it couldn't keep me from asking.

"What happened to your arms?" I asked. She looked at them herself and for a split second she looked terrified but got over it in a second.

"I had a bad day at work. Kept running into things the other day." What a bad lie, Carter. I knew she was lying.

"Where do you work?" Niall asked.

"Part time job at a gym." She answeres quickly. "It makes me look tough though." She giggled.

"Would you like anything to drink, Sis?" Niall asked. I think he was thinking similar to me.

"Water is fine." Niall nodded and grabbed my arm to take me with him to the kitchen.

"I don't believe her. Why don't I believe her?" Niall whispered to me.

"I don't either." I was in deep thought about the truth. She was unhappy. She had bruises. The way Jayden was with her at the engagement party. Who the fuck is this sick bastard? Is he hurting her? I don't really know Carter, and I don't wanna assume things but this isn't looking good.

"What are you thinking?" Niall asked.

"I'm thinking we need to find out whats up with this Jayden guy because I barely met the guy and I just have a bad vibe." I told him.

"Then we better get to working." Niall told me grabbing Carters water and walking out.

We're gonna get to the bottom of this.
