If You Want Me - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

--------------------------------------

Are you really here or am I dreaming

"Why did you do it?!" Chris yelled. The family had moved from the dining room to the living room and things were getting heated.

Shana huffed crossing her arms under her chest. Her jaw was set at an annoying angle.

I can't tell dreams from truth

"You need to be here with your family. We can make a story up and it will give you perfect reason to dump Bella." Shana said after a prolonged silence. Everyone was shocked at her words.

"What? Why would I want to dump Bella? She needs me more than ever right now." Chris laughed to keep himself from crying.

For it's been so long since I have seen you

"That's exactly what I mean. You spend so much time with Bella that it could be hurting your career, Chris, as your sister. Please." Shana put her hands on his shoulders.

"It's not hurting my career. Don't freakin touch me." Chris smacked them off.

"Chris you need to calm down." Bob interjected between Shana and Carly's cutting glares.

I can hardly remember your face anymore

Chris took a deep breath. "Because of your stupid and immature little trick my girlfriend. The girl I am insanely in love with. Have you no comprehension to understand that when you love someone you don't leave them? When did you become so callous?"

When I get really lonely and the distance causes only silence

"Shana, why did you call Chris home? Bella needs to have him there." Lisa said grabbing her daughters hand and yanking her to the couch.

"Cause I've never liked that spoiled little brat anyways. She always thought herself so much more special than anyone cause she was dating an Evans."

I think of you smiling with pride in your eyes a lover that sighs

"That's a lie. You say nothing but lies!" Chris spat through his teeth. His blood was boiling.

"How could you say such terrible things Shana?" Carly asked finally finding a voice.

If you want me satisfy me

"Oh you always were the perfect one weren't you? An actor. Always hitting the big time. I may be older than you but you were always loved more." Shana jabbed a finger at Chris.

"You think so? You really think so? Cause last time I check Mom and Dad were helping to pay off some of your debts."

If you want me satisfy me

"Kids, kids. Okay what we're going to do is Chris you get a flight back to LA. Shana, we will deal with you later." Bob said standing between the feuding kids.

"I tried booking a flight earlier for Chris and the next one isn't until Sunday." Lisa spoke up.

Are you really sure that you believe me

Today was Wednesday. That would be 4 more days away from Bella. Chris needed to be there tomorrow.

"Is there any kind of flight that I can catch even if it means changing planes a bunch of times?"  Chris asked sitting down on the couch.

When others say I lie

"I'll see what I can do sweetheart." Lisa scurried off to the computer to try to find a way to get Chris home.

"It'll be okay Chris. Even if you weren't there right away I'm sure Bella would understand."  Carly comforted her younger brother and Chris returned with a straight lipped smile.

I wonder if you could ever despise me

"I'm kind of tired now. I'm going to bed." Chris trudged up the stairs.

Shana didn't like Bella, it was plain and simple. Too bad, Chris was nuts about her. Shana didn't have to be around Bella, why would she care?

You know I really try

Why did Chris care? He was letting all of this get to him, Shana had her own opinion. Chris didn't have to agree with it. To think of it they never really agreed on much.

He was just tired, a long hot shower would make him feel better. He hopped in and let the water run over his back. Chris felt knots he didn't know were there, in his back loosening. One thought was in his mind, how to get home.

To be a better one to satisfy you for
you're everything to me

Chris lay in bed and unlocked his phone. His home screen came up with a picture of Bella, her head without hair, she held both her thumbs up and still had her award winning smile. IV's ran into her arm and she was wearing a blue, paper hospital gown. He smiled at the picture and went to Twitter.

'Goodnight guys! Spending some time in Boston for a few days. Hopefully I can greet LA soon.' He clicked the post button. It came up into his feed for a second and then disappeared. Instantly notifications came in with favorites, comments saying goodnight, and retweets. Chris turned off his phone and tried to fall asleep in the small twin bed, without his Bella.

And I do what you ask me

The next morning Lisa informed Chris that she had gotten him 2 flights. One from Boston to Atlanta, and then Atlanta to LA.

"Thanks Mom, you should win best mom of the year." Chris kissed her temple.

"Anything for my boy." She patted his bearded cheek. "Now let's get some breakfast in you, your flight is in 3 hours."

If you let me be free

Chris got off his plane in Atlanta, the general airport hubbub was rather relaxing to Chris as he rushed to the next gate. He had an hour until his flight to LA was leaving.

Chris stopped in a coffee shop and got a book to read. He settled down with his vanilla latte and a little kid sat down in the armchair across from Chris.

He looked up momentarily. Giving a small smile to the boy who was intently staring at him.

If you want me satisfy me

"Hi, my name is Steve." A small hand stuck out in front of Chris' nose.

"Nice to meet you Steve. I'm Chris." The boy had crystal blue eyes and sandy blonde hair. His frame was small and frail looking.

If you want me satisfy me

"I have to wear braces on my legs to walk." Steve said blatantly. He motioned to the metal contraptions wrapped around his thin legs.

"That's interesting. Do the braces hurt?" Chris put down his book and leaned in closer to the boy.

"Not really. But I can't be a superhero when I wear them." Steve looked sadly at his shoes.

If you want me satisfy me

Chris couldn't help but smile at the adorable little kid that reminded himself so much of Steve Rogers. "Who says you can't be a superhero?"

"What?" The boy looked up from his shoes and his piercing blue eyes sparkled a little.

"Ever hear of Captain America?" Chris gave Steve a toothy grin.

If you want me satisfy me

"You're him!" The kid gasped quietly not wanting to share his newfound secret.

"You can't tell anyone. I'm on a top secret mission for The Avengers. But, you can be a superhero Steve. Anyone can." Chris smiled as he got a phone call from Sebastian. Steve ran off to wherever his parents were and Chris answered the phone. "Hello?"

"Chris, she's awake."
