Elysium - Bear's Den

"Chris, she's awake." Sebastian's words rang out like a shot in winter air.
"She's awake? How is she? What's going on?" Chris bombarded his friend with questions.
"She's okay, she's been asking for you nonstop."
"I'll be home soon. I'll be boarding the plane in a few minutes. Tell Bella that I love her and I'm coming home." Chris hung up and Steve was standing there again.
"Was that one of the Avengers?" He whispered with wide eyes.
"That was Bucky Barnes." Chris smirked at the boy's reaction.
"Where is your shield?"
"It's in with my luggage." Chris finished off his latte.
"Is Tony Stark mean?" Steve sat down in the armchair across from Chris.
"Not really, he's just kind of proud."
"Is it okay if my sister meets you? I know you're on a mission." Steve looked towards a small strawberry blonde haired girl hiding behind a large brown bear.
"Sure! What's her name?"
"Her name is Alice." Steve motioned for Alice to come over. She ran over giggling and hid behind her bear when Chris kneeled to her level.
"Nice to meet you Alice."
"I love you Captain America!" The girl threw her arms around Chris' neck and the bear fell to the floor as she squeezed him. "You're my favorite." She picked her bear up again and wiggled up into the chair next to her brother.
Chris smiled at the kids who believed he was a superhero. He looked at his watch and saw it was time to be boarding his plane.
"I've got to go guys! My plane is leaving." He waved goodbye and the kids waved back. Chris pulled his phone out of his back pocket and text Sebastian that he was boarding his plane.

Late that night Chris landed in LA. His driver picked him up at the airport and drove him straight to the hospital.
"Hey, um, I need to see Bella Jenkins. I got news that she woke up from her coma and they moved her hospital room?"
"I'm sorry sir. Visiting hours are over. You can wait until tomorrow morning."
"No, no I can't. Okay? Bella is my girlfriend and I need to see her."
"Sir, you will have to wait until tomorrow morning at 10:00." The lady at the desk was determined to make her point known.
"You don't understand-"
"I do understand. I understand that you cannot hear me correctly. Visiting hours are over. Come back tomorrow."
Chris sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Okay, my friend is in the hospital room with her. He has barely left her side."
"Actually I'm not Chris. They kicked me out." Sebastian came around the corner holding a Starbucks drink in his hand.
"Is Bella okay?"
"Yeah, she wasn't happy about me being kicked out. But I couldn't do anything about it." Sebastian shrugged.
"I need to see her. I need to see her now." Chris leaned up against the front desk. "Isn't there anything you can do for me to see her?!"
The nurse sighed and looked around. "I can sneak you in. But only tonight. Tomorrow night you have to be out of the room by 8:00pm and then you can wait here in the lobby."
"Thank you so much! Oh I could kiss you!" Chris whisper shouted. The nurse raised her eyebrows, Chris leaned in and pecked her cheek.
He and Sebastian ran off to he elevators and the nurse sat staring at her computer in shock.
"I was kissed by Chris Evans." She whispered.

Chris came into Bella's hospital room, Sebastian stayed in the hallway to give them some time.
"Hello?" Bella asked weakly.
"Hello." Chris smiled.
"Chris! Oh my Chris!" Bella cried and Chris rushed to her side.
"I'm back Bella. I came back to you." Chris held her hand tightly.
"I missed you Chris. I felt like I was floating away into nothing, and you weren't there to protect me. But I knew you were trying to get there." Bella smiled. "Oh I missed you so much."
Chris got onto the hospital bed next to Bella, his broad shoulders filled up the little space left on the bed. Bella laid her bald head onto his shoulder and wrapped her arm that wasn't hooked up to various machines around him.
"I'm so happy to be back with you princess." Chris kissed the top of her head and Bella snuggled closer.
"Why did you leave?"
"That's not important right now. Right now we need to work on getting you home. Where I can take care of you myself."
"I love you Chris." Bella whispered with her hand curled up under her chin.
"I love you too."

The next morning a nurse came in to check on Bella. Sebastian was asleep on the couch using a jacket for a blanket, Chris was asleep next to Bella, her head still resting on him.
"Miss Jenkins?" The nurse asked quietly not wanting to wake the visitors.
Bella looked at her with sparkling eyes. The nurse smiled at her and did her duties around the room. Bella's hand gently caressed Chris' chest as it rose and fell with steady breaths.
"Good morning princess." Chris whispered, Bella was startled a little at the sound of his husky, sleep filled voice.
"Good morning." She kissed the corner of his mouth. "The doctor will be here in a few minutes, the nurses said that he's making his rounds."
"Alright. I guess I need to get out of your bed and wake up Sebastian." Chris whispered slowly getting up.
"That sounds good." She whispered back with a little giggle. Chris shook Sebastian's shoulder to wake him up.
"The doctor is going to be here soon to check on Bella."
'"Knock knock?" A man in a white lab coat entered the room with a clipboard.
"Hello?" Chris straightened up.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Tenant. I'm a partner with Dr. McManus, he's not in the office right now so I'm covering for him." Dr. Tenant was a dark haired man in his early 30's, he had a broad build much like Chris with less muscle.
"Nice to meet you doctor." Chris shook his hand warmly.
"Now, we think that one of the reasons why Bella fell into a comatose state is from a tumor pressing on her brain causing internal bleeding from the brain. She also has signs of cancer in her lungs and her bones, a large tumor being on her left femur."
"How big are the tumors?"
"Well there are actually three on her brain, the largest being 3 millimeters. There are two smaller ones near it on the right lobe of her brain. The tumor on her femur is very large but we don't know exactly how large. I'm afraid that if she walked on it, that it could break the bone."
"Then what do you suggest?" Sebastian spoke this time and Bella yawned. Her hand grasped Chris' tightly.
"I suggest radiation. I'm afraid Miss. Jenkins, that you will almost be confined to your home. Too much work can drain you."
"I'll take care of her doctor. It's my job." Chris smiled at Bella who was now asleep.
The doctor left and Sebastian went to go get some fresh air, Chris sat with Bella, their hands clasped together eternally.
