Cheer and Hayes*

Abby's pov://

It's been a month since I've seen Hayes. We FaceTime and call each other and text but it's not the same. Daniel and I have become better friends but latley I've jut sort of pushed him away. I have my online school and cheer practice. Practice is serious now. It's only a few months until worlds. All I've done is do school, work out, and go to cheer. I don't really talk to many people. Speaking of my phone buzzed. I saw a text from Daniel.

D- Haven't seen you in a while. Wanna go for a walk? I have something really important to tell you about.

A-Sure. I have practice in 2 hours though. Meet you outside.

With that, I threw a t-shirt on over my sports bra and slipped on my nfinitys. I pulled my hair up grabbed my cheer bag so I could go straight to practice after our walk. I told my parents bye and walked outside.

"Hey stranger." Daniel said giving me a warm hug.

"Hey." I chuckled. "So why did you need to tell me about?" I asked as we started walking.

"So I've been in the studio a lot and I've been working on his duet. Would you sing it with me?" He asked nervously.

"I would love to... But I don't have a lot of time. I will try my best though." I said sighing as we sat on the swings in the empty park.

"I would love it if you could." He said swinging. I just sat still and nodded.
"Are you okay?" He asked stopping swinging.

"What do you mean?" I asked kicking pebbles on the ground.

"Your different. You aren't the happy energetic Abby you used to be. You hardly ever speak to me and you always seem so sad." He said sympathetically.

I looked up at him. "I guess I'm just stressed and stuff. Sorry." I said looking back down.

"No dot be sorry come here." He said and pulled me into a hug. I like his hugs but it's not like Hayes's. I miss Hayes so much.we pulled away and I smiled.

"Thank you Daniel." I said and started swinging.

We talked and ran around the park doing random stuff until I had to leave for practice. I got to my gym. Great death today!! Sarcasm.

*skip some practice*

I am dying. We had a 5 minute break and our coaches sat us down to talk to us.

"As you know worlds are in 4 months. That's 16 weeks. 16 weeks to be ready. We have a very important competition in North Carolina next week. It is a chance to win a full paid bid to worlds. If we don't get a bid we are not going. Now you better give us 125%. Now get up and full out and we start over if there are any mess ups. Got it?" She said as we all nodded and got up.

*skip to the end of practice*

I finally got home. I took a long shower and changed into at hoodie and leggings. I walked downstairs and ate the dinner my mom cooked and went back to my room. I sat on my bed to think. Competition. North Carolina.... Hayes! North Carolina! I grabbed my phone and FaceTimed him right away.

"Hey babe. I miss you so much!" Hayes said smiling to the camera. I smile right away.

"I miss you a lot too. So I have a competition in North Carolina next weekend and I was wondering if you could come. I really want to see you!" I said exitedley.

"I have a meet and greet. I really wish I could though. I miss you so much your all I think about." He said sighing. I sighed.

"Aw. Well they are practically killing us at practice to get ready for that conpetition. If we don't win, we can't go to worlds." I said rubbing my hand on my forehead stressed.

"Wow. Good luck princess. Don't stress too much. I love you I have to go." He stated.

"Okay. Love you too. Bye." I said ending the call and laying on my bed.

*skip to competition day*

I roomed with my practically best friend Brooklyn. She curled my hair and teased it for me while I did my makeup and I did the same for her. I put on my uniform which was blue and white with rhinestones and slipped on my lucky nfinitys. I put my matching bow in and brushed my teeth before applying lipstick. I packed all my stuff as Brooklyn did the same ad we loaded our bus.

"I'm so nervous." I said to Brooklyn on the bus ride.

"Don't stress we'll do great." She assured me.

"But it's a one day cometition." If we mess up, we can't go back and do better tomorrow." I said breathing heavier.

"Here let's listen to music and relax." She said pulling out earphones. I smiled.

"You are awesome." I said putting an earbud into my era while she put one in hers.

We listened to music the whole bus ride and I felt a lot better. We went to the warm up room and warmed up. I couldn't focus. All I could think about was Hayes. I wanted to see him so badly. No Abby. Focus. We waited impatiently when our team was finally called. We ran out onto the floor and got in our positions. The music started and adrenaline rushed through my body. We were halfway done and I wet for my 2 whip double. I landed short and almost fell but managed not to. I felt an intense pain in my knee and tried my hardest to keep smiling. It hurt so bad but I can't let my team down. I went to my stunt group and hit. The pain was intense but I finally finished the routine and Didn't see anyone fall or any stunts not hit. I got up and tried to keep smiling, but the pain was unbearable. Brooklyn saw and came over and helped me get off the floor once we were off the floor a guy on the team carried my to the first aid place. By now, a few tears were slipping. The doctor lady looked at it and felt around. She said I tore my meniscus, and I would need minor surgery. She wrapped up my knee with ice on it and put a splint on it so I couldn't bend it. I had to use crutches and then after awards go to the E.R to get surgery. She gave me some pain killers and said I should go now but I can't leave my team. I used my crutches and met back up with my team and coaches and told them all what happened. We all went to find our parents since we had an hour until awards. I saw my parents and they rushed over to me. I explained what happened and thy took my backpack for me and embraced me saying how proud way were. I pulled away and saw a figure running towards me. It was Hayes.

"Hayes!" I yelled and dropped my crutches and hugged him tightly.

"There was no way I wasn't gonna come see you. You did amazing! I saw that look on your face though you were hurt." He said letting oh but still holding on To me so I wouldn't fall over.

"Were gonna go get you some food honey." My mom said as her and my Dad walked away.

"Thank you." I said happier than ever.

I explained what happened to him. "I wasn't focusing completely. I was distracted." I said while he picked il my crutches for me.

"You gotta be more careful. Now that were alone..." He said before kissing me gently. I kissed back and smiled as we pulled away. "I missed that so much." He said smiling cheekily.

"Me too." I said smiling big even though I was in a lot of pain.
