"It frightened him to think what must have gone to the making of her eyes."

Aiden's POV.

*Tick Tock*
*Tick Tock*

An old clock ticked behind me and my eyes strained as I took in every detail of her face, my heart thundering in my chest. The soft rythm of her heartbeat reached my ears, her chest rising lightly. I found myself mimicking her, my chest falling with hers.

Mate. My wolf howled.

The word rang In my ears. I felt myself sink to the floor, my head in my hands. Flashbacks illuminated my dark thoughts like a bright flashlight.

Flashback.

"Darling, why don't you go in your room and play with your toys?"

My mother brushed my hair back and gave me a warm smile. Her eyes glittered with worry, anger and pain.

"But mum.."
"Aiden, lea...."

The sound of a doorknob turning made my mother halt in her steps making her speech die alongside. The door opened and bright light poured in, though it was still too dark to figure out who it was. A tall dark shadow stepped in. By the widely drawn shoulders and the lean frame of the shadow, I guessed it would be a man.

He stepped in and shut the door behind him, the lock clicking back in place.

"Ah, my dear mate. How good it is to see you again."

My mother held my shoulders tightly and pushed me inside the medium sized compartment behind the large oak bookshelf. She squeezed my hand once before dropping it and walking towards the man.

"How I wish I could say the same, Alexander."

A deep chuckle resonated through the room.

"You've always been the feisty one, Azeala."

"What do you want?"

"You know what I want. Even if you're my mate, you're a part of them. I, as a loyal alpha, will go through heaven and hell for our pack. I will end you, luna, for the sake of our pack."

"Then go ahead. End me, Alexander. For there is no power on earth that can stop you. I am yours. I surrender."

Flackback ends

"Aiden?" A femine voice called out from the doorway. I lifted my head up and looked at her.

Her eyes, looked at me curiously with a hint of worry and her plump lips were pulled into a soft frown. Her blonde hair were a pulled into a messy bun on the top of her head.

But something felt missing and I knew exactly what it was.

Her every feature felt dull to me. The longing I had for her, the fire, it dwindled into a black mess. My thoughts and feelings were all over the place.

Though, my wolf was entirely a different case.

He only wanted her. The brunette beauty that lay on my bed right now. Her face had scratches on them and her eye was swollen, yet she looked beautiful. It felt overwhelming. It felt right.

"Aiden?" Her hands held my arm. I winced while my wolf growled and pushed her hands away, not liking another woman's touch.

"Hecate, please leave me alone."
