Everyone goes shopping for the winter masquerade ball. While trying her dress, Victoria is unable to zip her dress up, so Aiden helps her and they share a silent moment. Then they hear some commotion that they go and check out only to find a woman getting abused by her husband. Victoria gets in between and fights the man and then takes the woman to the house, during which Edward restraints Aiden to step into the fight.

You can keep as quiet as you like, but one of these days somebody is going to find you.

Aiden's POV

Who knew the innocent princess had a fiery side to her?

I had been an idiot to call her weak, to think she wasn't fit to be luna. I called her pathetic and def enceless. It's hilarious just how fucking wrong I was. I judged her way to fast, which was wrong on my part. However, her risking her life to save a woman she didn't even know was enough to make me realise that she may not be weak, but she had a fucking death wish.

'You alright man?' Asher raked his inquisitive eyes over my face.

I glared at him, typing the last few important emails that I had been working on during the last few hours.

'Why the fuck would I not be alright?' I snapped at him.

'You just seem a little..over the edge?' He replied, an amused smile raking his features.

I clamped my mouth shut and stood up from my chair, making my way to the stack of files in the corner of the room.

'What happened to the threat about Rogues you gave me a few days back, is everything under control?' I asked him, trying to divert his attention.

'It was apparently a fake threat. I checked the sight myself, nothing seemed out of order but I still increased patrol. I even asked our trackers to spend the night in the forest and report any suspicious activity,' He spoke seriously, the amusement vanishing.

'Exactly who gave you this fake threat?' I asked him, still confused about the situation.

'One of the wolves at the border informed me, then claimed to have a momentary lapse in judgement. Apparently, he smelt something weird and figured them to be rogues. The scent however led to a dead, decomposing dog at the edge of the river,' He scrunched up his face.

'I would like to have a chat with the wolf, ask him to come to the conference room,'

'Aye aye captain,' He smiled and gave me a two finger salute.

I eyed his sad smile and bit down on my lip, Arianna is his mate and I have asked her to claim that she has slept with me. That too by threatening her mate's position. What kind of a person was I? I couldn't destroy other relationships just because I didn't want my own.

'Are you alright?' I asked him, guiltily.

'I'm great man. My mate slept with you, everything is fucking awesome.' His attitude took a complete three-sixty and he stretched his lips into a fake smile. He literally looked like the Grinch who stole Christmas.

'I didn't sleep with her, you know,' I looked at him, waiting for him to show some surprise but he looked completely normal.

'I know,' He grumbled.

I was the one surprised now, 'What?'

'Man, she's my mate. What do you expect? I fucking trust my girl. You're my Alpha and my friend, I know you can't begin to even think about fucking my girl-' He looked up at me, giving me an actual smile, 'Not when you've got your own girl to think of,'

I rolled my eyes and took a drag of the cigarette I had just lit, 'I should've known. You aren't my beta for no reason. Also, Victoria is the reason I have to act like I had slept with your mate,'

'Maybe you should just let her in, you know. I'm sure Nathan will understand.'

'It's not Nathan I'm actually worried about. It's me. She doesn't know me. The real me. I don't want her to watch me face my inner demons. It's better if I reject her before she gets attached to me,' I solemnly replied, completely aware of my wolves uneasiness. Even he couldn't fight me on this, he doesn't want to hurt our mate.

'She's your mate, you would never hurt her,' Asher gave me a pitiful stare.

'They don't call me lucifer for no reason,' I smirked at him and stomped on my used cigarette.

His loud chuckles filled the room, while I shrugged on my jacket and shoved the door open. 'Ciao, Amico' I winked at him and walked out.

'It looks good, doesn't it?' Hecate stood like a mannequin in front of me, holding her white dress in front of me.

'Yeah, it looks great,' I answered, all the while imagining my mate in it. Stupid fucking Bond.

'I know right, you know also I brought matching...' She then went on about whatever she had bought, not even stopping to take a breath.

Halfway through her nonsense I found myself zoning out and thinking about a certain brunette . Imagining her in a dress made a certain anatomy in my body very excited.

'Babyy' Hecate screeched, bringing me out of my R-rated daydream.

'What?' I asked her and she frowned before stalking over to me and placing herself in my lap. I had never been so revolted of her touch as I was then. It took all self control in me to not just pull her hands off me and shove her out of the motherfucking door.

'Hecate, you're invading my personal space,' I said silently, hoping she would take a hint.

'Oh baby, we're mates. There is no such thing as personal space between us,' She added, smiling sweetly at me.

'Hecate-' The faint sound of footsteps leading away from my door caught my attention.

I gently pushed her off my lap and walked to the door. Nobody stood outside, but I didn't expect anyone to. The strong scent of Strawberry and Vanilla was enough to make me understand who it had been, and why she hadn't approached me.

With that realisation, I slowly turned around a closed the door. A strong part of me wanted to run after her but an even stronger part knew that it was for her good only.

That didn't mean that my heart didn't shatter along with hers. It did. Oh, it shattered so bad.

'What happened, honey?' Hecate slithered up to me while I groaned in distaste.

'Hecate listen to me carefully. I cannot and will not marry you. We are not mates, nor do I feel about like that anymore. Get out of my room and never come in my path again, Capichè?'

She looked at me, a nasty smirk pulled at her lips, 'So it is true, that worthless bitch is your mate,'

Worthless bitch. Oh she did not.

'Get out of my fucking room and by tomorrow morning I need you out of this fucking house,' I replied in a threatening voice, trying to suppress my anger.

Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Inhale.
Exhale.

'You know I could just tell everyone about you finding your mate, I'm sure Nathan will be absolutely delighted-' Not being able to handle my anger anymore, I cut her short and slammed her against the wall. Her throat in my hand and her loud heartbeat deafening me.

'Just a little pressure,' I twisted her head a little," And you will be on the motherfucking ground. I have killed, I will kill. Do not fucking test me, understand?' My voice had been replaced by something more dangerous, rough and undeniably effective. Considering I could literally smell her fear. Pathetic.

She nodded lightly and I pulled my hand away from her throat which caused her to wheeze out while I watched my wrist watch.

'Get out,' I spoke, literally on the verge of killing her, 'Now,'

That's all she needed to hear before the sprinted out of the room faster than Usain Bolt.
