Previous chapter.
Victoria is completely baffled and hurt after eavesdropping Aiden and Hecate's conversation. She however decides that she will continue to fight for him and his attention. She meets Nathan Valentine and his wife. Nathan's wife gives her an ancient bracelet.

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.

Aiden's POV.

'Alpha, may I come in?' One of my packs fighter asked from the door.

'Come in,' I walked towards the conference table and took the head chair. Asher sat to my left while the fighter and tracker took my right.

'Yes, Alpha?'

'I heard about your 'momentary lapse in judgement'. Can you explain that?' I asked, getting straight to the point.

'Yes of course Alpha,' He was still, too still, 'I was walking around the border, trying to see anything out of order when I smelt something
very foul. It felt very wrong so I linked the pack and told them that a few rogues had entered our territory. When the trackers came, they led the scent to a dead dog and the end of the river,'

His verdict came out fluently, without a moment of thought. Like a man that had practiced a speech in front of the mirror a hundred times.

'Where exactly did you get this 'foul smell'?'

'Towards the north side of the pack,'

I looked at Asher, 'And where did you find this dead, decomposing dog?'

'Towards the south end of the territory,'

'And where did the trackers actually start getting the scent from?' I asked the tracker, Jade.

'From the south starting of the forest,' She replied.

I looked back towards the fighter, 'So you're telling me, that you could smell this dog all the way from the north side of the territory. When even my best trackers starting getting the scent at the start of the southern part of the forest?'

He looked shocked at my accusation, and started to fidget in his seat.

'Answer me, Mr kafeun,' I spoke again, sharply.

'Alpha, I don't-'

'Do not fucking test me,' I snapped at him.

He looked at me fearfully, 'Alpha, I really dont-'

I pulled the man up by his collar and brought him close to me,' Answer Me,'

'I'm so sorry, Alpha. I didn't know what to do. He threatened my daughter. He said that he would finish my entire legacy. I had no choice, Alpha. He was alone and was wearing a ski mask, I couldn't see his face. He was very frightening. I'm so-' I didn't let him finish his sentence, I broke his neck before he could.

'And I don't have place in my pack for pathetic soldiers like you,' I dropped him on the floor ,'Get this cleaned and inform his family,'

Disloyalty is what I hate the most, Betrayal will get a person dead faster than he can say 'boom'.

'Did you have to kill him?' Asher lazily drawled out.

'Yes. He let an unknown wolf enter our territory and acted as a coward, he's a fucking disgrace to this pack. He signed his death the moment he let his personal life get in the way,' I truthfully told him. I hate cowards.

Without waiting for an answer, I walked out of the room.

'Old man,' Nathan playfully greeted me ,'Hecate has been looking for you everywhere. Where were you?'

That stubborn bitch.

'Handling some work,' I responded while hugging mother.

'Well, today is the winter masquerade ball so you will stop working and start getting dressed,' Nathan replied in a 'Do not argue with me' tone.

'Alright dad,' I laughed at him.

'Go, what are you waiting for?'

After bidding my parents goodbye, I walked upstairs only to be stopped by a very thin voice that I had come to hate and the most intoxicating scent I had ever smelt before.

I turned around to see Hecate and My mate walking toward me. Didn't they hate each other?

'Hi Baby. You know Victoria right? Of course you do,' Hecate smiled sweetly at me,' Well, the rest of the women already have dates and me and Victoria are the only ones left. We asked around to find a man suitable for Victoria but everyone else was taken. You're the only one left, baby,' She spoke, a mischievous glint in her eye.

'Let me guess, you're assuming that I will make you my date and let Victoria be alone so that she cannot attend the ball?' I asked, completely disgusted by her.

She nodded,'Of course baby,'

'Why were you ever with her in the first place?' My wolf asked me.

'I have absolutely no idea,' I replied, honestly.

'Well then, sorry to burst your bubble but as per my orders, you should be out of this pack. Which leaves only one girl left dateless. So my choice is pretty obvious,' I snarled at her, taking her hand off my bicep.

I walked close to Hecate and pinned her with my stare,' And you know exactly what happens to people who do not follow my orders,'

She walked back a few steps then ran faster than a cheetah. I heard a few snickers and turned to Victoria to watch her trying to muffle her laughter. She looked absolutely beautiful.

'I'll pick you up from your room by seven, okay?' I asked her, wondering how she felt about the entire date thing.

Her eyes glinted with happiness and she gave me a slight nod.

I turned around and was about to walk off when her melodic voice stopped me, 'Oh and I'm wearing white,'

I walked to my room and pulled out my suit, all the while thinking about one woman. Did I make the right choice? She my mate, I know, But..

Just one night. One night. Tonight she'll be only mine. I'll just be selfish for one night.

I need to be.

I know it pretty short and shitty, probably the worst book ever. I'll just try to make it better, okay?
