Chapter Eight.

Victoria's POV

To say I felt victorious would be an understatement. However, that glorious emotion was wiped out by the dreadful feeling of pain and anger that surged through my veins. I was ecstatic when I had first entered the house as a werewolf and the most enchanting scent had hit my nostrils. It was as if I had been pulled into a daze, where there was nothing but the scent that had sent my heart into an overdrive and just like every hypnotized person, I was pulled towards it by an invisible force

My feet took me around the house, while my brain tried to catch up with my movements. My wolf howled passionately inside me and I felt the urge to join in. It didn't remain for long though, when I caught Ariana's scent as well. I stopped in front of a large door, knowing my mate was behind it. I moved forward ,however, the door opened as soon as touched the doorknob and Ariana walked out. She looked devastated, like she had lost something precious to her. I asked her if something had gone wrong but she didn't respond. I could smell my mate on her, which made me extremely impatient. She replied after five minutes, when I felt like I was on the verge of pushing her away and shoving the door open.

'Looking for someone?' She had asked, her lips curling into a malicious grin.

'Yeah, I just smelt my mate, who I believe is beyond that door,' I replied, oblivious to her poisonous thoughts.

'Oh, that's sad,' She said, 'He isn't interested in you, Tori. Or he would've told you. In fact, we just had the best time while you were out. He was so gentle with me, It's amazing,' She licked her lips, her eyes growing dark.

I had felt my heart shatter at her words. How that was possible when I didn't even know who he was is beyond me but I felt heartbroken anyway. I could hear the soft purring of my wolf, who called out to her mate, wanting him to assure her that it wasn't true. I looked up at her, wondering how someone so nice could turn into someone so horrible and do something so hideous.

Ariana just tsk-ed and hugged me, her eyes unusually dull, 'Don't tell my mate, okay?'

I felt disgust spread through me as I took in her words. She was cheating on her mate? The only person that can truly love her? Something must be very wrong with her. Who am I to say anything though, the person she cheated with was my mate himself.

'Excuse me?'

'I said, don't tell my mate, Tori.' She pressed her lips into a thin line.

"Too late for that," I snorted.

As if on cue, a loud voice boomed through the corridor. 'Ariana?'

Ariana pulled her hands away from me slowly, as if not wanting to face the owner of this voice anytime soon. That felt odd to me, but considering how he was her mate, it made sense. She had to though, how much longer would she go on lying about her loyalty to her mate?

'Oh Asher, hey,' She croaked out, her eyes not leaving the ground.

I laughed darkly at her act, 'Damn Ariana, why don't you tell him what you just told me? I'm sure he will be pleased to hear about your...adventures,'
