Pale (pronunciation: pah-LEH, IPA: paleː) is a female direhorse in the possession of the Omaticaya clan. When Neytiri teaches Jake Sully their ways, she begins by having him mount and ride Pale. It is upon Pale's back that Jake gets his first experience in what Neytiri describes as tsaheylu, connecting his queue with that of Pale to link their consciousnesses. His first attempt at riding a direhorse goes awry, though, as he falls off shortly after he wills Pale forward. She seems to be a calm direhorse, but does become nervous when Jake hops on her for the first time.
