Dallas didn't show up again until the next day in Mrs. Hertz's class. When asked where she was, she said she didn't feel well, so she went to the infirmary. Her friends knew that wasn't the case. They confronted her about it after class.

"Hey, Dallas, slow down!" Odd said as everyone eventually caught up to her.

"Dallas? Are you okay?" Aelita asked her. Dallas stopped walking, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. Then she nodded and continued walking. Everyone exchanged glances before watching her hurry to her room.

No, I'm not okay... she thought. She'd been feeling awful. They didn't need to know that, though. She went into her room and shut the door, then went to go sit on her bed. She took off the locket that was around her neck and opened it. Inside was a picture of her mom, her dad, herself, and William on the left. On the right was a picture of just Dallas and William. She stared at the pictures and tears welled up in her eyes. A voice rang in her head.

"Big brother!" The voice said. It was the voice of Dallas when she was younger. A few years before she ran away.

"I'm sorry, William...I...I shouldn't have run away..." she said between sobs. "I came back home, and you're not here...I-I feel like this is my fault...I'm sorry..."

She had left the room before Aelita showed up and knocked on the door.
