Allison woke up like every other day. She showered, got dressed, and did her makeup before she even left her room. She went into the kitchen and grabbed a banana to eat, then into the living room where the mail was.

There was a pile of it mail sitting where it always did. She decided to rummage through it. She almost choked on her banana.

Sitting on top was a package from the University of Alberta with her name on it.

She threw the banana out, slid on sandals, and sped to Kara's house. Kara's dad let Allison in. She jumped on Kara. She needed her awake while she opened this. Good or bad news, she wasn't about to do it alone. Kara shoved her off.

"Kara, I got a letter from a school and I need you to be awake while I open it." Allison explained.

Kara shot up. Allison had worked ridiculously hard on getting these scholarships. Allison showed the envelope to Kara. Alberta. Kara took a deep breath and nodded at Allison to open it.

They leaned into each other as they read it. Allison read the full thing while Kara skimmed.

Kara spotted the word 'accepted' and started losing it. Allison shushed her while she continued to read. Kara tackled her onto her side. Allison squealed when she finished.

"What do you have to do to get in?" Kara asked, sitting up.

"Essay by the twenty fourth." Allison read from the page. "Which means I am not able to watch the Otters games on Thursday or Friday but let's go to Erie for game three."

"For real?" Kara gasped.

"Yeah, it's only a couple hours away. We can surprise the guys." Allison shrugged. "I'm gonna go get started on my essay right now but I'll call you when I take a break."

Kara nodded.

Allison left after that. She sat in her car. She was so excited. And nervous.  She let out a long breath. She had been working for this scholarship. So hard. Now she was having second thoughts.

Alberta was really far. She decided she needed to talk to someone that understood this kind of worry. She started her car and drove home. She sat on her bed and clicked the FaceTime button next to Connor's contact.

"Hey." He answered, yawning. She held up the letter. "What's that?"

"A full scholarship from the University of Alberta." She stated. "I have to write an essay by the twenty fourth and I'm having serious doubts."

"Al, you gotta go." He sighed, sitting up.

"It's scary." She frowned.

"Well, obviously, but how hard did you work for this?" He asked.

"Really fucking hard." She huffed.

"What would you say if I just decided to take myself out of the draft?" He cocked a brow.

"I would say you're a fucking dumb ass for ruining your life like that after everything you've done to get there." She shook her head.

"Then why are you doing that with school?" He chuckled. "It's the same thing. I know it's scary but you're a strong girl."

She let out a growl, dropping back onto her bed. "See this is so easy for you to say because you're Connor McDavid. You're this generation's hero."

"And you're Allison Rogers, my hero." He cooed.

She burst into laughter. "That was really lame, but it was really sweet. Thank you." She smiled.

"Anything to see that pretty smile." He beamed.
