When I was child we loved the watermelons colourful sweet juicy taste.
Our fear of swallowing watermelon seeds though was severely misplaced.
When I was a teenager we found great fun in making those melons splat.
Or seeing just how far those watermelon seeds could be spat.
As an older adolescent we ate watermelon seeds as a good snack.
Not realising they protected our bodies from many kinds of attack.
At university we learnt that humble seed helps regulate blood pressure.
Maintains the nervous system, prevents heart disease and keeps us fresher.
In middle life when the libido fails overeating the melon has its reward.
To the salad we add the roasted watermelon seeds to win great accord.
At the end of my life swalling the flesh of the melon really impedes.
There is no misplaced love though for those watermelon seeds.
