Triveni is a form of Hindi/Urdu poetry developed by Gulzar prior to 1972. Triveni poems can have one or many verses. It does not have a set meter, length or ryhme pattern and provided it creates an image can be used for any topic.
Every verse has three lines but the first two lines must be a verse in themselves. The third line adds or alters the image created by the first two lines.
@ashutoshmora first brought this style of poetry to my attention and in essence its the twist created by the last line of a verse that is the styles main draw.
My first attempt at this style appears on Ashu's book called "Triveni" in a response comment made.
Bus Ride
Seated at the bus stop full of anticipation for my first ride.
Excitement engages as I see the distinctive shape approach.
Then the shattering moment as I read "not in service".
Reaction
Thank you for reading and hopefully enjoying my work.
I appreciate your feedback comment and action.
Disappointed I might be if you proved to be a silent reader.
