Chapter Two

A/N: So this story disappeared for some reason... Oops. XD It's back up again, though!

Gray

"And then he said, 'I think you're pretty cute', and just flew off! I mean who does that?" I complained to Lucy, my best friend.

"Well, no one, considering no one has wings," Lucy retorted sassily. "And you've told me this story three times. I know how it goes!"

I shifted in my desk chair awkwardly, chuckling. "Sorry. He just won't leave my mind," I admitted shyly.

"Oh, someone's got a crush," Lucy teased, poking my side, making me flinch. "See, you're even blushing," She noted with an amused tone, knowing she was right.

I squirmed away from her touch and hid my cheeks by looking down. "I do not," I mumbled under my breath.

Lucy, being the only person at school who I truly trusted, knew I was gay. She didn't mind at all- he teases me about guys the same way I tease her about guys. It's people like him why I have faith in humanity, nowadays.

"Well, what are you going to do about it?" Lucy asked.

"What do you mean?" I echoed curiously. "What can I do? He's a superhero who probably doesn't have any free time. The only way I can contact him is if I'm about to die. It's not like he's just going to show up at this school!"

"Class!" Our teacher screamed, cutting the chatting teenagers off. "We have a new student joining our homeroom today, his name is Natsu Dragneel. I expect you all treat him kindly."

Lucy and I shared a skeptical look, but offered neutral smiles to the new kid, who was shyly standing beside our teacher, looking at his shoes. His pink hair shielded his eyes as his stare casted downward. Ha, how is pink hair even genetically possible?

"Natsu, you can find a seat next to Levy." The teacher pointed towards the only open seat in the class as the announcements came over the intercom to start the day. The hour-long class dragged along, and I was pretty sure I was almost dead when our teacher erased the lesson on her whiteboard and allowed us to pack up.

"Oh, class! One more thing!" Our teacher cut in over the miscellaneous sounds of notebooks shutting, binders clicking, and backpacks zipping.

I looked up just in case she assigned some last minute homework. I absolutely hate it when teachers do that. Like, two minutes to go and you think you're home free? Nope. Pretty sure that the teachers have conjured up some evil plan to kill us through masses of schoolwork.

"I need someone to show Natsu to his next class and make sure he knows where he's going," She asked, looking briefly at the new student. I looked too, Natsu's face was tinted red from embarrassment. I've never been the new kid before, so I wouldn't know the feeling. I imagine it is not a good one.

Everyone continued to pack up, ignoring her request, and her impatience grew.

"If someone doesn't volunteer I'll have to call on someone." Again, the sound of zippers and rustling papers were the only answer she received.

"Gray! Show Natsu around, will you?" I was startled to hear her call my name, but instead of feeling dread for showing the new kid, I didn't really mind, so I stood up and maneuvered through the aisles of desks to stand by his.

"Hey, I'm Gray. What class do you have next?"

He gave me a weird face and kept his head down, making it hard for me to hear his response.
