Chapter Five

Gray

A/N: Check out my two new makoharu stories! It's a summer camp au and a college au. :) I have a couple more phan stories I'm debating publishing (google translate and pastel punk) they would have slow updates but I have some saved already.... thoughts?

"Why do you think Natsu said that to me, anyway?" I gossiped to Lucy, who was currently sitting next to me in homeroom.

The first bell hadn't rang yet, which meant students were allowed to quietly converse among themselves. I took this as the golden opportunity to tell Lucy all the events that took place in gym. Weirdly enough, Natsu wasn't here. The seat he was assigned three desks down and one ahead was currently vacant, and I already felt off without him being there.

"I have an overwhelming sense of déjà vu right now," She responded cheekily, utterly disregarding what I previously said. "Didn't you tell me about this? Three days ago?"

Sure enough, three days had already passed since the catastrophe with Natsu and Gajeel in gym class. However, my mind wouldn't stop thinking about it. And when I'm constantly thinking, I'm constantly talking.

"Yeah, but nothing interesting has happened since then! I need some action my life!" I demanded to no one, and Lucy cringed away, visibly embarrassed to be sitting next to me.

"Well, what happened to your hero, the Black whatever-his-name-is?" Lucy asked snarkily. "Have you already moved on?"

I sighed in defeat. "It's not like I can call him up or anything. The only way I could meet him again would be... Putting myself in danger!" I snapped my fingers, my expression brightening.

"No, Gray," Luce finalized grimly. "That's probably the stupidest idea you've ever had."

"Thank you," I bowed my head, running my hand through my hair proudly. "But why not?"

"Because it's stupid!" Lucy exploded, whispering harshly. "Putting yourself in danger to meet some guy? What are you, crazy?"

"Well, what else am I supposed to do?" I hissed. "I can't just call him up and ask him on a date."

"He's a superhero! He doesn't have time for dating anyways, Gray!" Lucy argued. "He's saving the city, not looking for someone to hold hands and go to dinner and a movie!"

"Whatever," I grumbled stubbornly, turning away and glaring ahead.

"Sorry, but... don't you like Natsu now? Come on, just forget about the angel guy," Lucy pressed on, sounding like she was sorry, which I didn't believe. "It's not worth it."

I looked at him with what could only be described as shock on my face. "I do not!" I defended myself. "The Black Angel is the only one for me."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "You're hopeless."

I shrugged meekly, throwing a cheeky smile his way. "I can't help who I like."

"You barely even kno-" Lucy's endless accusations were cut off by the crackling of the PA system turning on and the principal giving announcements for the morning.

After hearing about the endless clubs that wanted people to show up at their meetings after school today, a "special announcement" sparked my attention slightly- I was too drowsy with morning fatigue to get excited over anything.

"All students will report to the auditorium next period for a school-wide assembly," he explained blandly.

Cool, I smiled to myself. No Physics. The cancellation of that class basically confirmed this day would be awesome anyways, and I could my spirits visibly lifting as Principal Wilson trying to sound chipper, but he just sounded like he drank too much coffee beforehand.
