After another day of school, mom dropped me off this time. She was going job hunting, which shouldn't be hard since she's qualified for many things. At least, I think she is. Walking into the school, I went to my locker.

"Quinn?" An unfamiliar voice asked. I turned towards the boy. I was shocked at who it was, my old best friend. "I haven't seen you since we were nine!" He exclaimed, picking me up and spinning me in circles.

"Cooper Steed." I breathed out as if he had risen from the dead. He had grown quite attractive, blonde hair that was swept up, hazel eyes, and tall and muscular. "You've changed so much!" I said with wide eyes. He rolled his eyes.

"It's been nine years." He pulled me into a hug, my shoulders slumped in relaxation; I needed this. Once we pulled away, I looked back to my locker. Grabbing my things, Cooper said. "Why haven't I heard from you at all?" I sighed. "Coop, I thought you hated me..we moved, and you were here alone." He shrugged, "I wasn't alone for long." I was about to ask what he meant.

"Cooper, Coach needs to speak to you." A boy with glasses and light brown hair with blonde streaks said. "Who's this?" He looked towards me, smiling. "James, this is Quinn, Quinn- James." I waved towards him, he waved back. "You and Cooper are friends?" Cooper rolled his eyes again.

"Shut up, James." He narrowed his eyes. James lifted his shoulder in innocence. "What? I'm just talking to a pretty lady." I blushed. "Don't you have somewhere to be?" Cooper questioned, clearly annoyed. "Don't we all?" James laughed, walking away.

"God, he's annoying." I smiled, "I like him." Cooper smiled back. "It's terrific to see you, Quinn!" I nodded in agreement. "Don't think this is the last of me!" He waved, walking down the hall. I will never think that, Cooper Steed.

"Cooper, Andy's friends with 'em." Anna-Mae stuffed some potato chips in her mouth. "What are we talking about?" Ashley sat at the table with a lunch tray. "Cooper." She bit into the shiny red apple. "I haven't spoken to him in forever." Anna and I looked at her questioningly. "You go to the same school." She shrugged, "we do different things." They can't possibly find time to speak to each other?

Cooper sat at our table, unexpectedly may I add. "Speak of the devil, and he shall appear." Ashley looked at her phone. "Q, I was thinking of us going to the game on Friday." Ashley looked up from her phone. "Hello to you, too, Cooper." She scoffed. "Oh, hey, Ashley." He waved, then turned towards Anna-Mae. "Sup, Anna." She gave a small smile.

Ashley grumbled incoherent words, leaving the table. "What's got her panties in a twist?" I looked back towards Ash. "I should go check on her." I started to get up from the table, Cooper grabbed my arm. "She'll be fine." I frowned. "I don't know what's going on between you two but, I can't just leave her." I felt terrible, but I didn't trust Cooper as much; people change, Cooper will have to see I have other friends.

"So, that means to just leave me?" I sat at the table. I was definitely going to check up on Ashley later. "Quinn, don't be like that." He smiled, putting his arms around my shoulder. "I just wanna spend time with my best friend." Andy and James joined us too.

"What are you guys doing here?" Cooper asked, annoyed. "It's boring without you." James jokingly whined. "Don't you have Andre to entertain you?" Cooper gritted. "Nothing is entertaining about watching him stick his tongue down Jackie Monroe's mouth," Andy grumbled.

"I thought it was Evelyn Johnson?" Anna asked, picking at the pasta in her Tupperware. "New day, new girl." James shrugged as if it was nothing.

"Gross." She mumbled. "Think he's a good person now?" I stuck my tongue out. "Yes. I'm not judging him for his life choices!" Andy looked at Anna. "Stay away from him, Anna; he's bad news." She rolled her eyes.

"Typical for you to say that." She scoffed. "Maybe, your brother's right." James thought aloud. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked. Cooper rubbed his face with his hands. "I don't know, Quinn. He's just dangerous."

"Dangerous? Okay, now you're exaggerating!" I scoffed. "Nah, I'd say dangerous is just right." James stole a pieces of pasta out of Anna's Tupperware. "Hey!" She whined it was too late; James's had already put them in his mouth.

"Before I forget, Quinn, they're holding cheerleading tryouts. Wanna come?" I shook my head. "Definitely not." I use to cheer at my old school, captain even. I quit once I realized everyone didn't like me. I took up a little gymnastics but gave up on that too.

"Why?" She asked. James snorted. "I bet it's a sight to see." James grinned, Andy hit him on the back of his head. "Ow!" He rubbed the back of his head. The bell rang, signaling lunch was over.

"We'll talk about it later." Anna pointed her finger at me. "If you say so." I grinned, doubting we'd talk about it again.

I had Ms. Peña again today, which stressed me out more than it should have. She was so uptight, it made me nervous. No one likes their mistakes being pointed out, especially to twenty other people.

Going into the class, my seat from yesterday was taken by Andre Sanders. The only desk left was the one in front of him. You've got to be kidding me! I slowly made my way to the seat, hoping that another one far away from him would magically appear out of nowhere.

As soon as I sat down, nothing happened. Yeah, Andre definitely seemed dangerous. I can't believe I believed Cooper and his friends.

Ms. Peña stood up, beginning her class. "Hey, Quinn, right?" I tried to ignore the voice behind me. "I'm pretty sure you're name is Quinn." He said, a little louder. What did he want me for?

I turned around in my seat a little, "will you shush?" He looked a little taken back. "I was just going to ask for a pencil." He put his hands up in defense. I felt terrible for being rude to him based on my friend's words. "Here," I mumbled, stuffing the one I already hand in my hands to his. "Thanks." He smiled. I turned around, getting another lead pencil from my bag.

"Hey, this doesn't work." He tapped my shoulder. I groaned, turning around, handing him the other pencil I took out of my bag. "Aren't you gonna make sure it works?" He cocked an eyebrow. "I wouldn't have to if you already came prepared!" I gritted, taking back my other pencil.

"Miss Skies, is there a problem?" Everyone looked back at me. "No, ma'am," I mumbled, embarrassed. "Then, I shouldn't hear you conversing with Mister Sanders." She snapped, facing the board again. Andre wasn't dangerous but, he sure was annoying.
