Chapter 2

You continued down the path with Matt, with only a few words shared between you. While walking, you came across Ashely looking through a telescope. You didn't want to scare her, but of course, Matt had a different idea.

"Come on (Y/N), it'll be funny. Pleeeeasse." He begged, and of course, you reluctantly gave in.

You quietly snuck up behind her as Matt got ready to jump in front of the telescope.

"Oh god!" Ashley jumped back, right into your arms, which made her jump again.

Matt started to walk up the steps laughing, "Woah, sorry about that Ash, I didn't mean to scare you." Telling an obvious lie.

"Hey Ash! So happy you're here!" You hugged her, still laughing lightly from the scare you gave her. You both hugged. 

"Geez louise guys!"

"Well we did mean to scare you-"

"But only sort of scare you, not for real scare you." Matt finished off your sentence.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" She gently pushed both of you, making you giggle more.

"Hey, wow, man, I'm really sorry Ash, damn."

"It's ok, it's fine." She said quickly, letting out a sigh.

"What are you looking at? Seeing anything juicy with that thing?" Matt questioned.

"Yeah, anything worth while?" You asked her with a smile still on your face.

"Uh..." You caught Ashley's worried vibe, changing your smile to a frown.

"Lemme check it out."

She hesitated, but still let him go. "Um, sure. Go ahead, knock yourself out I guess." She leaned back, giving Matt access to the telescope. You stepped back, being able to talk go Ashley without Matt hearing you.

"What's up Ash?" You questioned quietly.

"I saw Mike and Em through there, getting a little friendly with each other." You knew it. There was no way she was just going to see Sam. Why did she always have to do these things.

"Aw, son of a bitch! Seriously, Emily?What the hell man!" Matt backed away from the telescope, filled with anger.

"Hey listen, it's probably nothing, well...yeah-"

"Nothing really? Is it ever nothing with Em?"

You couldn't argue with Matt, he was right. It was always something with Em, and to be honest, you expected this.

"It's ok Matt, I'll talk to her later about it. I'm sure she just ran into him and said hello or something." Despite your true thoughts, you still tried to assure him.

"I sure do hope so..." He mumbled, now walking back down the steps. His mood was now ruined for the trip, poor Matt. Both you and Ash followed close behind.

The rest of the walk was silent, you stuck close to Ashely. You both felt bad for Matt, and shared small whispers and glares on the topic. You made it to the lodge first, to your surprise, and waited on the steps with Ash and Matt.

"So ash, how've you been?" You asked sincerely.

"I've been pretty good actually, I think I know what college I'm going to for writing. I'm really hoping my writing career will take off."

"I'm sure it will. I've read a couple of your sample stories and you're an amazing writer. I really hope to get into that biology college so I can take marine classes. This summer I'm actually interning at Sea World as an assistant vet so I can get my foot in the door. I'm hoping when I get my degree I can be one of their main vets." You said proudly, for this was your passion and you hoped to accomplish your goals.
