Recap:

Grumbling in frustration, Balthazar slumped down in his seat and mulled over the day's events.

"My suggestion would be; she's human, small and fragile. Use that to your advantage."

"How?" Despite himself, he couldn't help but be intrigued.

"She's human, they're bursting with sentiment. Sadie seems like the 'mother-of-the-nation' type of woman. Tell her a sob story about your past, she'll fall right into your arms."

"Blue be serious."

"I am."

"Will that work?"

"Balthazar, she'll be like a pig ready for slaughter." Leaning forward, she slowly whispered, "She'll never see it coming."

Chapter 4:

"You make it sound like I'm going to assassinate her." He huffed.

"Hey, she's not going to run into your arms because she likes your muscles. Yes it's true that she's at a disadvantage physically, but that doesn't mean she's an idiot." Blue smacked his head as she reprimanded him. "You need strategy. Not the fuck up you've been pulling this far."

"And what is your great strategy?" Balthazar couldn't help but be skeptical of what Blue was trying to make him understand.

"Gain her respect and trust." Rising from the stool she sat on, Blue affectionately ruffled his hair and turned to leave, "That is my great strategy. I won't let you force her into anything."

Throwing an indecipherable glance at him, she walked out the room and left Balthazar to mull over what she'd stated. Unaware of the passing time, he turned the dilemma that Sadie Kingston presented this way and that in his mind, unable to come to a solid solution for the situation. Perhaps time would tell what was best for them.

------------------------------

It had been a total of two weeks since Sadie had come to live in his house. And in the span of those two weeks, his life had turned itself inside out.

Balthazar had for the first time in his life, abused the power that came with being chieftain and had ensured that Sadie's job did not require for her to interact with people. He knew that the female was an introvert, who preferred the company of close friends and family over anyone else. He just wasn't ready to share her with the world yet, perhaps he never would be.

He worked from home, writing software for a company in the human-majority cities.  Sadie had been given the job of monitoring and ordering new stock for clothing and grocery according to the order request emails sent in by the store, which suited Balthazar perfectly as it did not require her to leave the house.

Over the days, they had fallen into a routine of sorts. They would spend the day working on their respective projects, have lunch together, after which Balthazar would spend the majors of his time roaming the lands aimlessly in hopes of distracting himself from the tempting awaiting him at home, following which they would spend a few hours of leisure time before dinner, each night.

For reasons he didn't care to inspect, he had found himself fulfilling every wish of the human female. He had become addicted to the joy and smiles of appreciation and admiration that Sadie expressed every time he did something for her. It was a heady feeling, to feel wanted and admired by someone so purely noble.

It had taken him a mere three days to start thinking of the human female as solely his. He felt an unexplainable connection to the delicate beauty gracing his life with her glorious presence. The woman in question remained mostly ignorant of his thoughts and feelings, but even he knew that he had made absolutely no attempt to cover the undeniable fascination he harbored for her. Sadie Kingston was a breath of fresh air in his world of death and despair. She did not expect him to stop doing anything merely because she did not agree with his point of view.
