The sun was out and the neighbors were mowing their grass when Cora awoke from her slumber in her cold-colored room. The room was furnished with a regular queen sized bed, a desk with a Mac sitting on top, a white dresser and a night stand, and a sliding window that was cracked open with a balcony. Cora lived by the forest and could easily step out onto the balcony and look through the woodland.

She opened the door and stepped onto the balcony. Cora took a deep breath and inhaled the fresh air from the trees and exhaled as she smiled and chuckled. She went back into her royal room as she began to hum the instrumental of Shake It Off by Taylor Swift and opened the top drawer as she grabbed a towel and entered her bathroom.

A large man grasped the handle of his coffee mug that read, "Best Dad Ever," as he moved it towards his mouth and took a sip of his black coffee. He folded the newspaper and slapped it on the kitchen counter top as he examined his wife. She was sitting at the dinning table on tablet with her glasses down on her face making her look like an elder librarian. She mumbled some words and flipped through a couple of papers.

"These dang Power Rangers and those monster attacks!!" He walked to the kitchen window and poured the remaining drink into the sink and sighed. "Of all places for monster attacks to happen, why this small town? Where's the government when you need them?"

"They're too busy making sure their secrets are kept hidden." The wife said as she highlighted a sentence on a supposed contract. She placed it under a pile of papers and raised her glasses. "Are you dropping Cora off today?"

The husband rinsed the cup and placed it in the dishwasher. "No, her friends are picking her up." He walked into the dinning room that was next to the kitchen. "I mean these attacks started when the Power Rangers showed up. The police should investigate and find out who they are."

"So what, you can thank them?" The mother chuckled.

"Hell NO!!!" The husband pulled out a chair and sat down in front of his wife. "So the police can arrest them."

The wife chuckled again. "Do you see how powerful the Power Rangers are on tv?"

"The Power Rangers don't seem all that powerful. I can probably beat them."

"You can most definitely die. Even if you can hurt them and put them on the ground, they have large machines that can stomp you."

The husband puffed. "They're too good to stomp a civilian like me."

"Not unless you pissed them off." She muttered. The wife examined her husband and took off her glasses. "Look, the Power Rangers are doing their job at protecting us and this town."

'HA!!!" The husband stood up. "I just saw a news report of ten injured from last week's attack. If anything, they're causing more damage."

"They can't save everyone, John. Just like firefighters, just like police officers, doctors, nurses---"

John raised his hand. "I get it!!"

"DAD!!" Cora came down the stairs wearing her gold and green cheerleader uniform with her cheer bag in one hand and her book bag in the other. She placed them on the table and crossed her arms. "Please tell me you're not making another rant?"

"Cora sweetie, what do you think about the Power Rangers?" John asked.

Cora sighed and opened the refrigerator. "I think they're ok. They seem unexperienced at their job--"

"You see, Fiona!!" John grabbed his daughter and kissed her on the cheek. "That's my girl."

She raised a finger and shook it. "But, at least their somewhat protecting the town. If they weren't, a lot of people could have died from the last two attacks."
