When we got to his place, the door was unlocked. Meaning that Glen was home. The neighbors are brothers and the younger one is as old as Glen. I don’t know if he’s seen his dad like this, but I’d rather not let him see this. Glen was nowhere to be found. My old place is a one big opened room, remember? I assume that he went out to either get food or he’s next door. I sat AJ down on the couch and sat carefully next to him, “Hey…”

“She looks happy with that other guy.” He murmured. He might be feeling a little hopeless but I could smell his feelings towards her from a mile away. He still loves her. I’m witnessing him crumble into tiny microscopic pieces. “They’re married, aren’t they?”

            “Um… Why’d think so?”

“I’m not blind, am I? Maybe I’m hallucinating. Maybe she just wants to make me-”

“AJ!” I snapped and gave him a sincerely serious look, “Yea, she’s married. I’m sorry.”

He inhaled and exhaled and inhaled and exhaled and might have missed a few thumps of his heartbeat, “Am I going to die heartbroken?”

“No, you’ll definitely not. You’re going to be fine. Hey, just calm down. It’s going to be okay.” This thing is seriously killing him,

“Is it possible to have a heart attack and die from this? Am I going to die?”

“No you’re not. You’ll be fine.” I sighed,

He closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead, “We were both drunk that night…”

I shifted a little, “Go on.”

“We’ve been together for a year or so. She was perfect. She had a bright future. She had everything planned out well, but I ruined it. I totally ruined everything. A few days later she showed up at my place, crying, and told me… That… She was… Um… Pregnant…”

I was sort of dumbfounded. He knocked up his girlfriend when they’re both drunk. Dad will kill you if he’s still alive.

“But I took full responsibility. I got myself three jobs in order to be able to pay for everything on my own. I made sure that both Emily and Glen wouldn’t have to go hungry and have a roof above their heads. I made sure that both of them wouldn’t have to suffer for a nanosecond.”

“You did the right thing there.” I whispered, “That’s the right thing to do.”

“Everything went downhill when Glen turned two.” He went on, “One night, he was crying and so was she. I was so confused. I remember that all I could think of was to hold her tight. Her pillow and my shirt were wet. On the other side, Glen had no idea on what’s going on. She was loosing her mind and I understand that. She lost everything because of me. Her parents refused to take her back because of me and yet, she still stayed with me. Everyday, my feelings for her would grow and grow to the point where I was ready to get down to one knee and ask her to marry me.”

Oh. My. God. I was totally speechless. I can’t even. Holy crap, this is the saddest thing I’ve ever heard. “And then?”

“Then one day, I came home to an empty place with an innocent two year old on his crib… That look on his face was just…” He trailed, “She just simply left and I never got to see her again.”
