022 | Chapter Twenty-Two

"Since we're all gone for the holidays, what're we going to do as a group? I figured we would've spent Christmas together, but the other day everyone said they were going home." Juyeon said

"We can all fly back here the day before Christmas and spend it together, or meet up at someone's place and spend it there." Sora suggested

"Maybe being back here would be best, that way it's just one flight back." Qian said

"That's true, I didn't even think of that." Sora said with a small smile.

"So we come back here the day before Christmas?" Juyeon questioned, Qian nodded.

"I'm good with that, it would be our first Christmas and it'd be nice to spend it together. I know my family would understand." Xhiu said

"Lin? How about you?" Juyeon questioned as she looked at the older girl who seemed to be lost in thought.

"Huh? Sorry..."

"Come back the day before Christmas so the five of us could spend it together?" Juyeon said

"That sounds good, yeah that's fine with me. It'd be nice to spend it together." Lin said with a nod, Juyeon nodded as well.

"It feels weird, this is really the first break we've ever had. I mean, I know we're on hiatus, but my body is so used to waking up early that I keep waking up when it's dark out." Juyeon said

"Me too." Qian said as she messed with the zipper of her jacket. "Are we all doing our own stuff today?" Qian asked

"I made plans with Chen," Juyeon said as she looked at the time on her phone. "I should be getting ready to go, actually."

"Oh, okay." Qian said with a small nod

"I'll stay home with you if you'd like, Qian." Xhiu said, "I was going to go out, but I can stay with you."

"You sure?" Qian questioned, Xhiu nodded and gave the maknae a small smile.

"I'll see you guys later!" Juyeon exclaimed as she headed out of the dorm.

"What do you want for Christmas and your birthday?" Chen questioned

"They're on the same day," Juyeon replied

"And?"

"Anything is fine, I'm not picky." She mumbled as she pulled her mask up a bit more to cover her face more as the two walked through the streets of Seoul, trying their best not to be seen.

"Come on, I'm sure there's something you want in particular." Chen said as he lightly nudged her arm, almost making her drop her coffee.

"There's nothing in particular, gifts are gifts. I'm not someone who cares much about materialistic things." Juyeon said, Chen glanced over at her, an eyebrow raised.

"You talk like an adult." He chuckled

"What's that supposed to mean?" Juyeon snapped which made Chen squint at her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to–"

"Ani, it's okay, I was just taken aback a moment." Chen said as he drank his coffee. Juyeon stopped walking and Chen took a few steps forward before looking back at her. He couldn't see much of her face due to the mask, but he could see her eyes which were slightly glazed over with tears. Chen glanced around before he hastily walked over to the younger girl and grabbing her hand. "Juyeon," He mumbled "It's okay, don't worry about it." He said. He knew she was emotional due to everything that had been happening, but this was the first time he'd seen her cry and he was worried now.

"Jongdae," She said as she squeezed his hand, he glanced at her, it was rare when she actually called him by his real name.

"Yeah?" He questioned

"Can we go back home?" Chen nodded and turned around, heading in the direction of the dorms. They had made it in a short amount of time and they headed towards the elevator. Chen pressed for her floor and looked over at her. Her eyes were to the ground and her hair covered most of her face. The elevator opened and everyone stepped out. Chen and Juyeon entered the elevator and the doors closed.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Chen asked as he pushed her hair out of her face so he could look at her.

"What's there to talk about?" Juyeon questioned as she turned to look away from him. Chen sighed and turned her face back towards him, her eyes widened when she saw how close he was to her face.

"A lot to talk about, you're not someone who can hold everything in and make it seem like nothing's bothering you, nobody's like that. Everyone has a breaking point, Juyeon." Chen said, Juyeon gave a small nod and Chen pulled her in for a hug, placing his chin on top of her head as he held onto to her. The elevator dinged and someone got on, but Chen didn't care and continued to hold onto her.

"It's our floor," Juyeon mumbled as the elevator stopped at another floor. Chen gave a small nod and pulled away, grabbing her hand and pulling her out of the elevator. They made it to the front door and the two stood in front of it.

"I have some stuff to do today, but I promise I'll call after its all done." He said, Juyeon gave a small nod and Chen pulled her in for yet another hug, placing a kiss on her forehead as he did. "I'll see you soon, Juyeon." He said as he pulled away. Juyeon nodded and unlocked the front door but turned to Chen before she walked inside.

"Thank you, Chen."
