The room was completely silent for a moment and Jane couldn't help but hope that they had made the right decision by coming here; she felt odd right now and she knew that they had no reason to trust her.

"What are you doing here?" Carlisle asked when no one made a move, they couldn't be sure if this wasn't a trap of some kind; he wouldn't put it past Aro to do something like this.

Jane sighed looking to Alec, it had been a difficult decision on what to do but they knew that they had to do something; whatever had happened to Aro had changed things for them all.

"Caius and Marcus are dead... along with other members of the guard," Alec said informing the gathering of what had happened, it had been a horrible shock to see people they considered family slaughtered like that by Aro.

Chelsea had been one of the members to lose her life and no one was sure why Aro had done it, she had been the reason that some many vampires remained with the Volturi because of her gift.

Chelsea had been the linchpin in Aro's organization since her ability to both make and break emotional ties had been the power that kept the guard unified and the coven functional for so long.

Stunned silent hovered over the room, it was clear the Source had no idea what he had done by doing such a thing; he had lost the most threatening members of the coven through his actions.

"We know that you have no reason to trust us but we are here to help," Jane said quietly, it was the last place that she had wanted to come but this new Aro had to be stopped; he was destroying everything and attracting unwanted attend from the humans.

Jasper frowned watching the twins, he was a little surprised to feel what he was and he looked down at Alice who was staring at him intently.

"They are telling the truth," Jasper murmured looking to Amelia to see if she sensed the same thing, they were being told the truth and they couldn't sense any foul-play; he just hoped this wasn't going to cause more trouble.

Aiden looked around, he still didn't understand why they were here especially when it was clear that they didn't like them; he was a little wary of having them around.

"Why come here then?" Aiden asked getting to his feet, he didn't know what Jane and Alec hoped to happen but he didn't need anything jeopardising their plan to stop the Source.

It worried him that if they were to take their help that it was only going to cause them more issues; they didn't want anyone getting in their way when it came to destroying Aro.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Jane replied simply, she wasn't going to stop them from doing what they needed to do; things were too far gone and she doubted that anyone would miss the man that Aro had been.

Not of lot of people might have understood it but at one time he had cared more about protecting their species and keeping the rules than his quest for power; it had all gone downhill and now without Chelsea things were finished.

Many vampires had fled from the city and with demons being given more power there was little chance that it would ever recover from this.

Paul stared at the twins and held his son close, he didn't know if they could trust them but he knew that Amelia would tell them if they couldn't; they needed the element of surprise if they were going to sneak up on the Source.

Piper nodded her head, they could be useful if they could tell them how to get into the city undetected by the Source; she just hoped that things would work out if they had some inside help.

"Are you sure about trusting them?" Paul asked stopping next to Amelia, he eyed the vampires that had come from the Volturi to help them and he knew that this gave them more reason to be wary.

Jane and Alec weren't the only vampires from the Volturi to come and join them, there were several others that had come and they looked so lost without someone telling them what to do.

"The more the merrier," Amelia murmured rocking Aaron in her arms, she whispered softly to her son settling him and she hoped that he would be safe when they travelled to Italy.

Paul sighed wrapping his arms around Amelia, the date had been set and they had two months to prepare for the battle; it wasn't a lot of time but the trip needed careful planning if they wanted to defeat the Source.

"I just worry," Paul mumbled shaking his head, he kissed the top of her head and held her and their son close; he couldn't imagine what would happen if he lost either of them, he wanted to make sure that they were safe.

Amelia nodded her head and closed her eyes, she wasn't looking forward to the trip and she just prayed that they were going to make it back to their son.

The couple didn't say anything while they listened to what was being planned, they were both determined to make sure they made it back from this for their son's sake.

Aiden watched his sister and he knew that this was going to be difficult, he was dreading leaving Leah behind but there was no way he was going to let her fight when she was pregnant with their child.

They all had so much to live for and they couldn't lose this fight, they already knew what they were going to do to stop the Source it was just catching him alone without any interruptions.

"The question is what do we do when the Source is defeated?" Paige asked making Aiden look to her, he knew that they hadn't been thinking past the battle much because no one was convinced that they would make it yet.

Amelia pulled away from Paul and watched Paige, she knew that things weren't going to be easy but they would pull through; she looked down at her son knowing that she was going to do it for him.

"The Volturi were the royalty of the vampire world right? Who is going to make sure that they keep to those rules now?" Paige asked looking around, she didn't want to see a power vacuum opening up and she could already guess who would be the first to try and take over.

The Romanians would be the first to try and take control having lost their control to the Volturi and Paige doubted that anyone would really care what the two vampires had to say about anything.

Aiden grinned looking to Amelia, they had talked about this when they knew that they had to destroy Aro; he wasn't going to enjoy what came after in anyway but it was for the best.

Piper raised an eyebrow, she had a feeling that Amelia and Aiden had a plan and it made her a little curious; she couldn't imagine what they had planned for after the battle.

"We've been thinking about that," Aiden replied wanting to keep his cards close to his chest, he didn't know what was going to happen next and he knew that they needed to focus on the battle first not what came after.

Amelia shared a small smile with Paul, she had no idea if it would work but she was keeping it in mind just in case they did make it through the battle; she would do anything to make sure she survived this.

None of them were sure what would be waiting for them in Volterra but they all were sure that it would be a difficult battle; they needed to be prepared and there was no way that they were going to give up when it was clear that the end was approaching.
