“You know there isn’t much out here.” Jericho stated as we continued walking. He knew more about the wilderness than I did.

“A town.” I stated back. Jericho put his arm out quickly stopped me.

“I didn’t know you were going to this town. It’s not a good idea.”

“And why not?” Dark interjected shoving Jericho. I quickly stepped between them just as Dark threw a punch. It hit me square in the mouth. I felt my teeth rattle in my mouth and a thin line of blood trickle down my chin as it came out of my bottom lip. It quickly closed and I let my tongue slide against the blood licking it up.

“The town is protected by our people. It wouldn’t be smart unless you want to die.” Jericho said between his teeth. I slumped my shoulders sad that things weren’t going the way I wanted them too.

“So now where are we going?” I questioned.

“The only towns I’ve ever known of are yours and mine so anywhere.” Jericho put in.

“We’re going past your town.” Dark said already heading off towards the town. I quickly caught up to him and stopped in front of him. His body rammed into mine and I stepped back with my one foot keeping me from falling.

“Did you not hear Jericho before?” I questioned staring at him hard. Maybe bringing Dark along wasn’t the best idea. He had a stubborn side to him that could cause quiet a ruckus.

“I choose to ignore him.” I slapped Dark hard across the face causing his head to snap to the side. He looked back at me with hurt in his eyes.

“Sorry but you’re being a real douche. Stop acting like your sister.” I said calming myself down. Dark stood there grumpily as I looked around us.

“Let’s go this way.” I said putting to the right. It would avoid my town and Jericho’s town. Jericho quickly changed back into his wolf form as we all started running off.

We ran until the sun rose high in the sky until we collapsed down on the ground exhausted.

“We’re getting close to another town.” Jericho stated as he sat with his face near the ground. It seemed weird when he smelled the ground in human form, but I guess his senses were still normal when he was human.

“I thought vampires don’t sleep.” Jericho said eyeing me as I got comfortable on the hard ground.

“We do but we only need very little sleep. The older we get the less sleep we need. I can go a couple of days with three hours of sleep. In which I need right now.” I put my arms on the ground resting my head on them as I lay on my stomach. I looked over at Dark who was already asleep.. In a tree. His one leg was dangling over the side the other resting right on the limb. His back was against the trunk and his arms crossed against his chest. His mouth was wide open and I laughed at the thought of what could crawl inside it. Truthfully he looked dead. But really we are considered to be ’dead’. When we get to the age nineteen we stop ageing for a while. Then after several years we start aging really fast. We keep doing that until we get old, then we start going backwards. It’s really strange and hard to do anything about because of the fact that we live in one town. Luckily the people of our town think nothing of it. Just that we have a trait in our family that keeps us young looking until it hits us hard.

I let my eyes close knowing that soon I would need blood. I fell asleep thinking of blood just trickling down my throat.

“What the hell are you doing?” I opened my eyes to see tanned skin with a thin line of blood trickling from a small cut across it. I looked up the chest until it led to a neck then a face. I was on top of Jericho.

I quickly jumped off of him putting my hand on my mouth. I could taste a faint hint of blood in my mouth. It tasted weird.

“What’s with her eyes?” Jericho questioned backing up. I sighed knowing what the problem was. The thought of blood was trailing through my mind and I could feel my body already starting to cramp up.

“She gets like that when she gets hungry. We all do.” I heard Dark say as I headed off into the woods to find an animal. I bit on my tongue drinking my own blood but it wouldn’t satisfy me. Only stop me from going crazy.

“You have a little something on your face.” Dark said coming after me after my hunt. He licked the side of my lips taking away some blood I had left. Jericho just sat there staring at us. I bit my lip wondering what he was thinking.

“We do almost the same thing.” Jericho said shaking his head.

“See we’re not all that different.” Dark chuckled and Jericho eyed him. “Really you two? Get over it! You’re acting like a bunch of prissy girls.” They both looked at me amazed at my flash of anger. I eyed them both hard letting them know I was being serious.

“Do you hear that?” Dark asked stopping. Jericho and I both followed stopping and listening. I heard the sound of cows. We were close, really close.

We pushed past some bushes to find a large pasture. Out of the corner of my eye I caught Jericho licking his lips, but then shake his head trying to shake the hunger away.

“I don’t smell anything that’s nasty.” Dark said throwing his head back letting the slight wind whip through his hair as he entered the pasture.

“Umm..Excuse me. Who are you?” A girl with long blonde hair braided down the sides asked as she appeared from behind one of the cows.

“Dark I’m from a couple of towns over.” Dark said staring at the girl interested.

“I knew it.” The girl said snapping her fingers together. I eyed her suspicious waiting for her to continue. When she realized we were all waiting for her to continue her eyes got wide in excitement.

“Everybody here in this town always said, there is nothing out there. Nothing to go explore, we have our town and that is all way need. Now I know there is more. That’s why I sit out here with the cows, I’m just so tempted to go exploring.” The girl said eagerly. I eyed her wondering how old she was. Probably somewhere around ten. She was human though, that was definite.

“I’m Red and this is Jericho.” I said pointing to both of us. “Dark is my cousin, and we’re looking for something. Do you think you could show us around your town so we can see if it’s here?”

“Yeah that would probably be the best way to go considering our issues.” Jericho mumbled.

“Sure, on one condition.” The girl said holding up her pinky finger. She acted a little younger than her age. Way to giddy. “You guys tell me about where you guys are from. That way when I get older and am not being housed under my parents roof I can go find it.”

Dark eyed us before telling her about our town. Pretty much the normal life of it, and how far away it is.

“Wow, that’s really far away! A week’s journey.” The girl exclaimed throwing her hands together. I laughed in my head. Yeah, a week’s journey in not even two days.

“Okay show us around.” I said not wanting to waste any time. The girl hopped up on a cow as if it was a horse and started riding off. We followed behind her walking out of ears reach.

“She’s a little strange.” I murmured to Dark. He laughed slightly before running his fingers through his hair.

“Nobody in my town is like that.” Jericho said chuckling. I laughed with them quietly so that the girl couldn’t hear. Only for our sensitive ears. Yeah, us creatures of the night could be normal.
