It seems that one bad day was enough to set me on a bender. My life went back to little sleep and lots of parties while balancing a music career. Eventually, I stopped. It was getting too much and the album was failing. As soon as I sobered up, the music got better. By the time the album was released, so was Ronnie. I hadn't talked to Craig nor Ronnie since that day, but I had gotten into drunken or strung out rants about both of them in interviews and on stage. Management loved it since it creates hype, but I hate myself when I did it. It wasn't fair.
I'm on tour to support our new album, but since I heard Ronnie went to Orlando, I made sure we had a stop there. I've waited a long time, but we are finally here. Ronnie's friends gave me some information on where he's at. Since I have a day off before the show tonight, I head out. The taxi drives me to his friend's place where he's been crashing.
I knock the door to the apartment while the taxi waits for me in case he slams the door in my face or isn't here. A guy I've never met answers the door. He looks tired, like I've woken him up.
"Yeah?" He yawns.
"Ronnie here?" I smile. "I'm an old friend. I heard he got out and I wanted to see him."
"He should be at the studio. Hang on." He disappeared inside, but returned not to long later. "He forgot his phone. I bet he's going crazy without it." He handed me his phone and a piece of paper with an address scribbled on it.
"Thanks." I smiled and walked back to the taxi.
This time, when I arrived, I sent the taxi off. Fuck it. He's going to talk to me.
I make my way to the right room. Behind a sheet of glass window, Ronnie is running through vocals. A guy is working the board. Three guys sat around on couches.
"Lost?" One asks me.
"No. An old friend of that guy's." I watched Ronnie. He spotted me and stopped the track.
"Give me a minute." Ronnie told the booth guy and walked up to me. "What the fuck, Adrianne?" He sighs. He's not quiet mad, but not happy either.
"Nice to see you too. You left your phone at home." I handed it to him.
"I'm not even going to ask." He grabbed my wrist and lead me to the hallway.
"Look, I'm a bitch. We have established that." I said quickly. "But we used to be friends. I want my friend back."
"I can't have someone telling everyone I'm an asshole one minute then being my friend the next in my life."
"I was high and drunk. I'm sorry, but don't act like you didn't shit talk me either."
He sighed. "Shut up and give me a fucking hug."
I laughed and hugged him. "You need to record and I should meet your band." I dragged him back in.
It was an easy day. We ordered food, I told the guys embarrassing stories about Ronnie, and got to know Ronnie's new band. Ronnie was in and out, going over the vocals and lyrics then fixing everything and chatting with us.
"Okay boys, I am going to be late to my show." I sighed and stood up from my comfy spot on the couch.
"Nooo!' Ryan, the drummer who is a bit odd, whined.
"Yessss!" I insisted.
"Nope." Ronnie caught me around my waist. "Can't go. Sorry."
"The show!" I giggled. "Come on, I skipped on sound check for you."
"Then you can miss one show." He smirked.
"I wish I could, but there are fans that are counting on me." I grabbed his phone. "Text me, and give my number to these weirdos." I laughed.
"When do you leave?" Derek asked.
"Right after the show sadly."
"I'll drive you there then." Ronnie offered.
"Okay, bye boys." I gave his new band mates hugs then we headed out.
"So, since we have all this shit going on, I think that we should just keep quiet about each other." I said as we pulled out of the parking lot.
"How?"
"In interviews we just say no comment to questions about each other. And we don't talk crap about each other."
"Sounds good. So how long are you touring for?"
"Till the end of the summer..."
"What? Its winter."
"US tour, Europe tour, and Warped tour..." I rubbed my face. "And I'm sure we will be touring after that."
"Fuck that." He rolled his eyes.
"You know how it is. Soon your life will be like this too."
"Hell no. You guys tour way too much."
"You know how music is. You gotta go hard or get lost in the past. Besides, I love touring."
"You love not having to be in one place. Being stuck in Vegas made you want to be everywhere else."
I laughed. "Yes, I guess that's true."
"So, that Craig thing over?"
"Way over. We broke up the same day as the last time I saw you. He didn't like the fact that we still talked."
"That's Craig for you. He likes to turn everyone against me."
I rolled my eyes. "Yes, Mr. Paranoid. Everyone is out to get you."
"Only lately." He teased.
I smiled. "You are so full of yourself."
He laughed and we had to get through the venue's security to get back by my bus.
"You could stay for the show..." I suggested.
"I need to get to the studio. We are tight for time. And since I got out crowds make me... Panicy."
"I didn't know." I frowned. "I just missed you."
"I missed you too. I'm sure my band likes you now too."
"What can I say? I'm likable."
He hugged me and I got out. "Bye, Ronnie."
