Ashton's POV

After I pushed Mark out of Luke's home, I turned around to face him only for him to wrap his arms around me. I didn't react at first but after a few seconds, I pulled him close to me and embraced the blonde boy.

"Thank you for sticking up for me." He said and I couldn't help but smile.

"You deserved it, that guy was being an arsehole." I said and Luke nodded.

"He never used to be like that, now he just gets angry and I don't know why he gets physical. I'd ask him but I'm obviously scared, you know?" Luke said and I nodded, feeling sad and angry at the same time after hearing his words.

Luke shouldn't be getting hurt, especially not by his boyfriend.

"It's ok, I'll make sure that he doesn't hurt you anymore." I then promised, surprising myself as this was completely out of character for me.

"Thank you." Luke replied, not questioning my protectiveness over him despite us barely knowing each other. Maybe he was growing fond of me like I was of him, which were words I never thought I would say.

"I've grown fond of you these past few days, no one has showed me kindness that you have in so long and so protecting you now is the least I could do. I'm sure to keep on protecting you because you don't deserve to be treated like that." I said, letting another part of my wall down.

"I've grown fond of you too." Luke admitted and I smiled, feeling happy in that moment.

"Wow, I am being sappy, I am never sappy." I then said, trying to detach myself from the conversation, it was getting too nice and I wasn't really used to being like that.

Luke laughed and I couldn't help but smile, "I understand you, there's not much room to be sappy in my life either. Living with my older brother an all."

"Fair enough." I replied and then a silence fell between us, it wasn't uncomfortable.

After a few moments, an idea appeared to pop into Luke's head as his eyes lit up before he asked, "Hey, do you want to go out tonight? I think it could be fun since I'm assuming you haven't been out in a while and I have no one but Mark to go with normally."

Biting my lip, I had to think it over because going out with Luke sounded fun and like something I'd enjoy but I had no idea what to do anymore and I only had him as a friend so if wanted to go off with someone then he'd be ditching me. Call me paranoid but I just didn't like being left alone and I was worried that would happen.

"Well, where would you want to go?" I asked.

"Maybe just to like a bar? I don't know, somewhere fun considering we both seem like we need it."

"I would like to, haven't had chance to do that in ages. Anything that isn't sitting in an alley is considered fun for me." I smiled, causing Luke to mimic my action.

"I am looking forward to it." Luke said before slipping out of the room and going into his kitchen.

The thought of going out tonight sounded like fun, I hadn't done anything like that ever and it was something new and exciting for me. However, knowing how drunk people can be it didn't sound appealing to be in a room full of them. More so given that I didn't know what I was doing at a bar or club, I'd feel out of place.

However, if I was going to get on with Luke then I was going to have to suck it up and do my best to have fun tonight. With Luke, that may be slightly easier.

-----------

This is short because this book has to have a word limit, sorry about that. Ashton is letting his walls down to Luke, which is a slight character development on his part. Next chapter will definitely be more interesting with somewhat badass Ashton.

Hope you like this chapter, please let me know what you think xx
