She's not thinking straight as she walks back into the cafeteria (though it's not like she have been beforehand, she's just twice as worse now). The grin on Normani's face completely drops when she sees Lauren's expression because she knows her well enough to see that something's wrong.

(And if she was being honest, it scares her to see Lauren showing her emotions in public.)

Getting up, she excuses herself from the small group to make her way towards her best friend, who seemed to only have one destination in mind. Hailee.

"Laur, hey." Her words reached deaf's ear as Lauren completely ignores her to continuing heading towards the other side of the cafeteria.

"What the fuck are you up to?" Normani tried again, following after her with a scowl. When she doesn't get a response, the dark skinned girl grabbed their arm to tug her back.

"Normani, what the fuck?" Lauren scoffs, turning around to finally glance at her. "I'm busy. Go keep Aaron company or something."

At her best friend's backlash,  she rolled her eyes and let go of her arm. Though that didn't mean she would let her win. Instead of holding onto her, she quickly slid in front of her destination to block the girl.

"Babe, come on. This look on your face is the same one you had before you punched the shit out of Austin. Now tell me what you're up to."

"To punch the shit out of Hailee."

Normani couldn't help but frown at that. She've seen the new couple holding hands around school before and if Lauren came more often, she would have found out herself.

She didn't even want to be the one to tell her best friend that the girl she've been pinning after is taken now.

"I'm not letting you do that."

"I know... Can you take me home?" Her expression shows just how drained she was after the short conversation she had with Camila. And the fact that she sees Dinah smirking at her in her peripheral vision wasn't helping at all.

"Yeah of course. Get yourself settled in my car. I'll be right there." Handing the key to Lauren, Normani then walked back to the table to grab both of their stuff. On the way to the exit, she bumps into Camila.

Well, actually, she shouldered the girl on her way out. As much as she is innocent, Normani hated what she made her best friend feel. It's an immature thing to do, but you are what you eat.

Or well, what you suck in this situation.

Walking towards her vehicle, she can see Lauren merely staring at the dashboard as she waits for her best friend to arrive. The dark skinned girl almost rolls her eyes at how fucking depressed Lauren is right now. And it's all because of a girl she once enjoyed to annoy. After placing both their backpacks in the trunk, she gets into the driver side before leaning over to press a soft kiss against her best friend's temple.

"Damn Laur, back at it again with the sulking," she jokes, but her teasing smile drops when it doesn't get a response from the other female.

"There are other fishes in the sea, you know?" Normani sighed, turning on the engine before backing up.

"I don't like fishes, I wanted her," Lauren shrugged, leaning back against her seat. With that, Normani doesn't bother saying anything else. The whole ride to the ravenette's home was silent— a bit awkward, really.

She doesn't remember the last time she saw Lauren get so affected because of a girl. There's a pattern, you see. Lauren would go from girl to girl, and if they didn't like her, she'd somehow persuade them to give her a chance. Camila though, she was different. She broke the cycle and it's the reason why Lauren seems to always come back to her. To go a mile further to get her attention. Now, she had to admit defeat. There was no way she was getting this girl and it broke her because she wanted her.

This girl— she was different. She was smart, innocent, and so fucking beautiful that Lauren would spend most of her tutoring session just staring at her. For once, Lauren wanted to get to know someone.

Once they were parked outside her house, both girls didn't bother moving out.

"I thought she just wasn't into girls," Lauren finally spoke, turning her head to gaze at her best friend with watery eyes.

"I'm sorry, Laur... But you know how you treated her before, I'm not sure why you're so surprised."

A scoff left Lauren's lips as her best friend decides to  explain why Camila couldn't like her rather than comfort her.

"Right. That makes me feel better." Shaking her head, Lauren unbuckles her seatbelt before getting out of the car.

"Come on, Laur. What did you expect me to do? Say some bullshit things like she doesn't deserve you? You fucked this one up. If you really wanted her, you should've taken it seriously," Normani explained, getting out herself before following the girl to the front door.

"I did," she bit back harshly, unlocking the door with unsteady hands. Noticing that small detail, Normani lets out a sigh. She's mad at her.

"You didn't. Camila isn't the type to be charmed by the way you flirt. She doesn't appreciate all the sexting that you try to make happen when she doesn't even text you back," Stepping inside the house, she closes it behind her before continuing, "she doesn't appreciate it when you're talking to her like you already have her."

"I don't know what you want me to say, Normani. It doesn't even matter because Hailee's with her now and as much as I want to fucking ruin that, I won't."

Normani's lips only managed to part before another voice interrupts them.

"Mija, aren't you supposed to in class? You too, Normani."

Both teens turns their attention towards Clara, who has a worried look on her face. She noticed the tension between the two best friends but doesn't bother to address it. It's not her place and she's smart enough to know they'd both lie and say everything's okay.

"Yeah, but... We're both having a bad day, mami. I needed to come home," Lauren explained with a small nod.

"Very well. I'm about to leave to pick up your sister," she says, grabbing her purse before heading towards the door. "Call me if you two need anything."

After saying goodbye to the two, she leaves and both girls ascends the stairs.

"Did you want me to suck you off or something? Like, would that make you feel better?"

"Normani, no."
