Holden^^^

When I finally realized just what had happened I had already been dragged away by my mother to the closest bathroom and she was checking my eyes, pulse and everything else to make sure that I was okay, since I hadn't said a single thing since we found out that Alpha Holden was my mate. I slowly turned my head to look into the mirror to see if I looked okay. My eyes couldn't really focus on anything just yet but I wasn't as spaced out as I had been.

I shook myself the rest of the way out of my dazed haze and looked at my mother. She looked more worried about me than who my mate was. I took a deep breath and slightly smiled at her. If my mom wasn't worried about this then I shouldn't be worried either, the moon goddess wouldn't pair me up with anyone other than who would be the greatest match for me.

"I think I need to head back out there and ask to speak to my mate, don't you?" I asked my mother with a slight smile still on my face.

"If you're ready to do that, then we can head back out there, if you're not ready for this then you can go and wait in the room. I'm sure your father will support you in whatever you choose to do." She said with the kind motherly smile that always makes you feel better.

I couldn't help but feel slightly more sure about going to talk to Alpha Holden, something about the look my mother was giving me just made me want to do it even more.

"I'm sure I'm ready to talk to him mama. He's my mate, I'm not going to be scared of him unless he gives me a reason to be. It doesn't matter what anyone else has to say about him. The moon goddess chose him for me and now I have to trust her judgement enough not to question it, but to follow it."

My mother looked at me like she couldn't believe I was her daughter. She had a prideful look in her eyes and if I didn't know any better I would say that I saw a tear in the corner of her eye. She hugged me tight and took a hold of my hand and put the other hand on the door knob ready to turn it and head out of the bathroom. She stopped and looked at me once more.

"Are you completely sure hunny?" She asked.

"Yes, I'm completely sure." I said without a single doubt in my mind.

Hand in hand we walked out the door and down the hall back to the backyard where everyone seemed to be waiting to see what was going to happen. I walked beside my mom looking straight ahead not making eye contact with anyone. The last thing I needed was to do something to cause any rumors or for a jealous mate fit to be the end of this meeting.

My mother and I finally made it to where my father and Alpha Holden sat having what looked to me a small conversation to pass time. Alpha Holden looked like he wasn't that worried about where I went, but then again you really couldn't tell what his emotions were with his eyes always covered by those dark glasses he was still wearing.

We stopped a short distance away from them and my mother gave my father one of those looks and they both get up and walk away, but not without my father kindly excusing himself from Alpha Holden's presence.

I stood there not knowing exactly what to do, do I say something? Do I sit down close to him or wait for him to point to a seat to know where to sit? There's just so many things to worry about that I wasn't sure what I should do. I looked up to see Alpha Holden just sitting there looking at me. I couldn't help but blush.

"Are you going to stand there all day, or would you like to sit down Miss. Wilkes?" His deep husky voice asked.

I almost couldn't control myself I wanted to run over to him and never leave his side again.

I swallowed hard and slowly took a seat beside him trying not to look like too big of a fool.

"Sorry, this mate thing is all new to me. I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do, so thank you for giving me a few minutes to get my head together. I know that must have been hard for you to do." I said in a quiet voice even thought there was no one around us to hear what we were talking about.

"Your reaction was fully understandable, why wouldn't I let you have some time to wrap your head around the fact that your now mated to one of the most ruthless alphas out there? I guess you were just going to let me know that you were sorry for the way that you acted before you packed up your things and went home with your parents?" He asked almost bitterly, like he really expected me to just get up and leave him after just finding out that were mates.

"Uh, no, I was apologizing for the way I acted and was going to ask where do we go from here? I mean if you want me to go home with my parents I will, but aren't mates at least supposed to try to work it out? If you don't want to then..." I didn't get to finish my sentence before he placed his hand on my own silencing me.

"I would love to give this a try, but only if you're a hundred percent sure about this."

"Of course I'm a hundred percent sure about this. I would have never agreed to it otherwise." I said honestly.

He smiled at me and patted my hand that was still under his.

If he keeps smiling at me like this then I'm for sure a goner.
