"Well this is just great!" Page complains again out loud.
Page and Crystal are eating breakfast with Mahoney and Demetri when Page complains again for what she knows is the billionth time.
"I just don't get why they would do something so underhanded," Page continues on...again.
Mahoney rolls his eyes, "Page, would you give it a rest already? We get it, you don't like it that Talula can't hang out with us anymore due to security stuff AND that you don't like it that whoever attacked the camp kidnapped the best benders the Academy has."
"But that's not just it," Page presses on, "If we had known, if I had known what was going on, I would have fought not run away. I should have done something if I really am worth kidnapping.-she slams her fist on the table- stupid Chinese Camp!"
"Page!" Crystal hisses. She looks at Crystal's panicked face in confusion.
"What makes you think a Chinese Camp is behind this?" Mahoney asks.
Oh yeah, they don't know. "Well...you see..." Page is fishing for words but she cant seem to find any.
"Page just has this thing against the Chinese ever since she saw this documentary on their government one day," Crystal replies back "She didn't want anyone to find out because she isn't racist against them, she just doesn't like their government. A bit of a conspiracy theorist if you ask me."
"Its cool Page," Demetri tells her, " no judgment coming from us. Right Mahoney?"
"RIght," he agrees. "Besides, everyone is suspicious of who could have been behind the kidnappings. For all we know it could be the Chinese."
Page nods in agreement but doesn't say anything else. She doesn't trust her mouth to say something that won't be stupid. She had almost blown their cover, and if she had the conversation could have led to Demetri and Mahoney finding out Talula and Crystal's secret. But would that be such a bad thing? She really did hate lying to Demetri.
"I'm just glad that Talula's attitude has changed since she became the Avatar, she's so much less stuck up now," Demetri comments.
"I think all the pressure of being the Avatar has 'humbled' her so to speak, " Crystal comments back.
"For now," Mahoney says, "Let's be grateful for however long it lasts."
"You guys!" Page cries out. Heat rises to her cheeks as people from the tables around them look at her in confusion. "Don't talk bad about Talula, she has a lot on her plate right now."
"And what was her excuse before?" Mahoney Challenges.
Crystal sighs, "Mahoney, Page is right. We shouldn't talk bad about Talula. We are her friends and its wrong."
Mahoney crosses his arms, "Yeah yeah. Way to turn traitor."
Crystal smirks, "You're just mad that Page told you to do something you know you should do."
Page stabs her fork into her hard-boiled egg. She can't believe that so much has happened in these past couple of days. She can't help but to feel bad that she is one of the few "powerful" benders who wasn't taken last night. It was all circumstance that caused her not to be taken. It was all because of Crystal, Crystal is the one who deserves the "powerful" title, not her. Page stabs her egg again.
"Page," Page gloomily looks up to see Crystal looking directly at her with concern. "It's not your fault. You can't blame yourself for not being taken when others were."
"You!" the firebender from the opening performance came storming up to their table. "You two were the last ones to see Steven before he was taken."
Page stares at her with a mixture of wonder and fear. That sentence seems like it is supposed to be a question, but it came out more like an accusation. "Maybe, why?"
She glares at Crystal then whips her head around to snarl at Page. "Come with me. Now."
Mahoney and Demetri jump to their feet, "We're coming too."
Page is painfully aware of everyone staring at them in curiosity.
"You aren't coming." She tells them, "This is between me and them."
This time Page stands up, "Well they are our friends and I say they come."
A temple pops out of her temple, "What gives you the right to make demands?!"
Page and this girl glare at each other. Crystal comes in between them and pushes them apart. "Hey, I understand you guys are tense with the disappearances, but this is not the place to show it. Let's take this somewhere else." Page watches Crystal walk toward the door without another word. The hot head growls below her breath, but follows Crystal out the door.
Page smiles victoriously and turns to Demetri and Mahoney, "Come on guys, let's go have some fun." She turns to the rest of the room, "Sorry for the interruption we were just having a passionate lively discussion, enjoy the rest of your meal!"
And on that happy note Page, Demetri, and Mahoney walked quickly out of the cafeteria and after Crystal and that hot headed red head. A knot began to form in Page's stomach, who is this girl and how much information are they going to have to give her before she gets fired up?
