"A ouija board?" Lydia groans as we sit around one of the tables in the Chemistry room. The whole school had evacuated due to the fire alarm being pulled by Cora, so we were alone.
Stiles slams the board onto the table. "Also known as a spirit board. It's worth a shot."
"Maybe," Lydia sighs as Stiles starts to take it out. "But shouldn't we be trying to get Corey and I to harness our powers together?"
I had to admit, I was on Lydia's side with this one. Stiles sets a piece on the board. "Can we just please at least try this? Maybe this will work better than you think."
"Are we all supposed to do this?" Cora says, her eyes lifting to look at us all. I could see how much her and Derek were alike.
Stiles nods his head. "Yeah, we all do."
Lydia rolls her eyes before placing her manicured fingers on the triangle in the middle, the rest of us following her action. I notice Lydia glance at me out of the corner of her eyes, probably wondering if I was getting some type of vision or anything from this, but I wasn't. I was still stuck here.
Stiles takes a deep breath. "Where's Doctor Deaton?"
We all stare at our hands in the middle of the board as we wait for something; anything to give us hope. It took me a couple of moments before I realized that Stiles and Cora were both staring at Lydia and I, Lydia noticing it as well.
She raises her eyebrows. "What?"
"Are you going to answer it?" He sounded as if we could just pull this answer out of thin air.
"Oh, I don't know the answer," Lydia's eyes wander the room before they find me. "I thought we were asking some type of spirit."
Cora raises her eyebrows. "Well, do you know any spirits?"
Lydia groans. "Nah, it's not like there's an ex-spirit standing in the room right here with us now."
I raise my hand slightly, knowing she was talking about me. Cora looks at me then. "Well, do you know the answer? I thought you could see visions?"
"I can," I state the obvious. That was one of the only reasons why I was even in here. "It's complicated, though. I can't control what I see and when I see them. I'm pretty sure it's when I come into contact with someone or with an object, but they have to be willing to show me their thoughts for me to know. I can't see the future either, which is something we need to find Deaton."
Stiles starts to act frantic. "Wait a minute-what if we had Deaton's keys for you to touch? Would that be able to link you to him?"
I shrug my shoulders. "I guess it's worth a shot. But where are we supposed to get-"
I cut myself off when I see Stiles pull out a set of keys, jingling them in the air. Of course he just randomly had Deaton's keys on him...
My arm extends as I hold my hand out, waiting for him to drop them into my palm. He stares at me intensely as if the moment he dropped them, there would be some type of explosion. I wanted to laugh at him, but this wasn't exactly the right time. He stares at my hand before letting the keys go, the cold metal dropping into my hands.
I expected something; to see Deaton tied to a tree or the worst, seeing him dead, but I didn't see anything. Instead I continued to see Stiles' face, who was still staring at me as if I was on fire. My fingers close around the keys in my hand as I focus on them, trying to pull something out of them. Why wasn't this working?
"It's not working," I say, angry at myself. "Maybe Deaton doesn't want to be found."
"Or maybe the Darach doesn't want you to find him," Stiles fades out, putting the puzzle pieces together. What he said made a lot of sense. There was something about these keys though that I knew were essential to finding Deaton, but I didn't know why.
