unknown calling...
"hello?"
"...diner... pie..."
nova recognized the voice almost immediately.
"oh, it's you again. how are ya?"
no answer like last time.
"...don't understand... obsession... pie."
nova chuckled and just decided to listen because her attempts at conversation were to no avail.
....chocolate... apple... many choices."
nova crossed one leg over the other and cradled the cup of coffee in her hand, bringing the lid up to her lips. the warm, rich liquid slid down her throat and satisfied her palate.
"coconut cream is always my pie of choice."
"...hurry... much time."
"you sound busy. i'm just gonna hang up now. not that you'd notice anyway."
nova smiled before hanging up for the second time this week. next time she had a one-sided conversation with this stranger, she'd be sure to listen longer and maybe get his name.
