(FLASHBACK)

"Aria! Aria wake up." Nova said gently shaking me.
"What?" I groaned into my pillow.
"What time is it?"
"It's 12:43." Nova said, as I sat up.
"What do you want Nova? We have school tomorrow." I muttered.
"Come on I want to show you something." She said lacing her fingers with mine.
We tip toed through the house and out the back door.
Strands of inky blackness swirled around us, until I saw something glowing in the distance.
A dragonfly.
It was blue with a dull glow surrounding it.
Then I saw another.
Before I knew it, there were thousands of little dragonflies zooming about in the night.
"Isn't it beautiful, Aria?" Nova squealed, twirling around the yard in just her nightgown.
I felt a smile form onto my lips and I grabbed her hands and we danced in the darkness.
-----------------------------------------
My eyes shot open and i found myself lying in a ditch somewhere.
I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot down my spine. I fell back into the position I woke up in and observed my surroundings.
The sun was just beginning to peek over the town's brick houses. Fluffy pink clouds dotted the sky. I didn't know where I was.
I tried to sit up once more, but failed.
With my eyes squeezed tight, I made a final attempt to get up. I rolled onto my stomach and pushed myself up with my weak and shaking hands.
As I climbed to my feet, I realized that I was in the woods... I had been left for dead.
Winds rustled through the trees. Silence. And nothing more.
No birds tweeting.
No people talking.
Just pure silence.
I looked down at myself. My gown was torn and my feet were bare.
I gently touched my face and felt my swollen eye.
My vision was slightly blurred, but I had to get out of here.
I climbed from the ditch and staggered towards the path that led out of the hungry woods that threatened to swallow me up.
I made my way down the path until I reached the edge of the trees.
Maybe someone can help me. I thought to myself.
I frantically looked around for someone who looked nice. Possibly a woman. Perhaps a woman with children.
I felt a sharp jab to my ribs and i quickly turned around.
"Hey, are you alright?" A young woman asked me.
I eyed her suspiciously. At this point, I didn't trust anyone.
"Um. I'm fine, thank you." I said trying to seem casual. But in reality, I was holding back what seemed like a waterfall of tears.
I felt my bottom lip tremble, and I looked down.
"What's wrong sweetie?" The woman asked, rubbing my shoulder.
I flinched as she did this.
"He..he..." I started.
"What happened? Who hurt you?" She asked.
"He raped me..." I squeaked, sinking to my knees.
I covered my face with my hands and began to sob.
The lady sat next to me and squeezed me tight. I clung to her as she combed her fingers through my long black hair.
"It's ok. Everything's gonna be ok." She whispered.
God, I hoped she was right.
