Reader's POV

I gasped for breath as I sped down the street. It seemed that people just loved to get in the way. I had to jump around people before they tripped me. I blew some of my hair out of my face and looked over my shoulder at my pursuers. The guards.

My name is (Y/n). Most call me (Y/n) Black or Zeref's Pupil, though. Mainly because I'm a wanted criminal. One of the youngest on record at age (age). I have (h/l) messy (h/c) hair. My eyes are as black as oil, or so I'm told. I tend to wear black and grey clothing with my black cloak.

"Stand down, Miss Black! Hand over the book and no one will get hurt!" Came a shout in front of me.

I looked up and skidded to a halt. They had sent a group ahead to cut me off. Dangit! I hugged my book to my chest and looked for an escape. This was his book that he gave to me. No one can take it from me. Not like it holds the secret to wiping out all of humanity- oh wait! It actually does!

I sighed and stretched out a bit as they came closer. I saw a faint green glow from somewhere in the group behind me and comes suddenly sprouted up from the ground. I jumped and ran to dodge them but I knew only jail awaited me if I ran.

"(E/N)" I screamed just as a vine that was reaching for my arms caught me in the chest. I stumbled backwards and dropped my book.

A black and (f/c) blur flew in front of my and cut the vines. "Last time I had magical plants for snack, they tasted aweful."

I scooped up the book and jumped up, sending a bit of energy to my feet so I went a bit higher.

"Got you, (Y/n)." (E/n) said as she grabbed my shirt and lifted me up.

(E/n) is my best friend. She is an Exceed that is black with (e/c) eyes and a (f/c) dress. She's been my friend for seven years.

"Goodbye, guys! This was fun!" I waved as the two groups gathered together. There wasn't that many, like ten of them.

"Blackout!" I clapped my hands together and black mist spread out over the guards who were previously chasing me. They panicked and I lost sight of them in the darkness.

"It won't stay there forever. Let's go." I said and (E/n) flew up and towards the trees.

"As I was flying around, I found a really run down cabin." (E/n) said.

I modded. "Good. We need a good rest. It took three days of walking and running to get here."

"Oh, I'm fine. I was resting while waiting for you. I'll look out for people while you rest."

I looked up at her and narrowed my eyes. She rested without me? That's kinda unfair, if you ask me. Well, she does have to carry me around. Now I feel guilty about that.

"Hey, (E/n)?" I asked. "What would you do If I somehow learned to fly? And you wouldn't have to carry me anymore."

I felt her sigh as she thought of an answer. It was usually a long one I didn't understand. I regret asking already.

"If you learned how to fly, I would certainly hope I was the one to teach you, first off. If you mean you found a way you could fly on your own, I would be happy for you. And, you are not a burden to me. I'm happy to carry you around anywhere."

I nodded. "Mhm." I was listening, I promise! But I was deep in thought. It has been seven years since I last saw my dad. Maybe even eight. I've lost track. He promised we would see each other again. But, so far, nothing. I've become wanted almost immediately after I gave up searching and tried to live a normal life. And I had more control over myself. That obviously didn't happen.

"It's just through those branches. It might be a hard landing." (E/n) warned.

I nodded. "I'm kinda surprised that no one saw us. I guess it is true that people- nah!" I clamped my mouth shut as a branch slapped my face.

"Sorry. I warned you. And close your mouth. Don't want you swallowing a bug."

I could almost hear (E/n) silently laughing at me. I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. I know I was a teen. A very mature (age) year old lady. She didn't need to think of me as a child.

We got through the branches and I did not swallow a bug. I had to blink one out of my eye, though.

"You didn't tell me to close my eyes." I whined as I tried to remove the black dot in my vision.

"I didn't realize you would need to close them." She huffed lightly.

I rolled my eyes and blinked to make sure the big guts were gone from my vision. "Okay. Let us get some rest." I brushed a few leaves off of my clothing before heading towards the cabin.

"Look! A sign!" (E/n) said as I was about to open the door. "It says Natsu and Happy."

"There's a lot of moss everywhere. Good grief." I sighed. "Well, I'm tired. Goodnight, (E/n)." I opened the door and headed inside. I held it open as (E/n) came flying in.

"You should know better than to go anywhere without me by your side." She said in a slightly stern voice.

I just rolled my eyes and looked around the space. There was a lot of cool trinkets and stuff. Even a hammock! I smiled and went straight towards it.

"Be careful." (E/n) said from across the room. Probably over by the trophy wall that was there. Well, unique trophies not actual ones. But, it is to be expected in an old place like this.

"If I wasn't careful, then I would be dead." I responded with a smiled as I swung into the hammock. It was actually really comfortable and strong for being so old.

"We don't need to set up watch. Just go to sleep, (E/n)." I said with a yawn.

"Are you sure? I can stay up for a night."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. No. I'm not closing my eyes until you're asleep."

"Fine, fine. Goodnight, (Y/n)." (E/n) said, a small yawn following shortly.

"Goodnight, (E/n)."
