''Ranya, please ask Reelana to pass the maple syrup.'' Lia said at the breakfast table the next morning. I had got back late last night, when everyone had gone to bed. And after a night of tossing and turning, i got up early and decided to make Lia's favourite pancakes, as kind of a peace offering. In fact i might have gone over board, and made far more than enough. So i had woken everyone in the household up to eat them whilst they were hot and had asked the boys if they wanted to join us, too. But even after we all had about 3 each, there was still many left.
I watched as Ranya rolled her eyes, and gave Lia the maple syrup herself. I sighed and tried for the third time, with a smile on my face, to make conversation with Lia. After all, it was just a silly old fight, and i wanted to make amends. ''So Lia, how do you like the new recipe? I put just a touch of cinnamonn in the batter today, i think it's made the flavour totally burst.'' I said smiling proudly. I had made extra effort to make sure the pancakes came out even and golden. Just like Deadpool, i had an obsession with pancakes. They could be breakfast, or dessert. Who would'nt love them?
''I think they're gorgeously good Ree.'' Ranya said, beaming at me. She had felt the awkwardness and was making extra effort to not leave any awkward silences. Even Kirsten and Judith were with us, trying to chat. Heck, even the boys in the other room (there was no space in the livingroom) would call out every 5 or so minutes, telling me my pancakes were good. Unfortunetly, Luke had not turned up this morning, so i did'nt get my daily dose of his comical ways. I had seen him though, when i knocked this morning. He answered the door, and did'nt look his usual self at all. His usually cute ruffled chestnut hair was standing up in all ways, messy and greasy, he had dark eyes instead of his usual shining ones, and instead of the adorable smile that was always stuck to his face, it was formed into the most unpleasent frown. I gave him a smile when he opened the door, and went in for our usual hug only for him to move sideways. ''What do you want?'' He asked, short and flat. ''Urm, wanna come over with the guys for some nummy pancakes?'' I said. He shook his head, but before he could close the door in my face, Tyler had saved teh day. ''Hell yeah.'' He answered, dragging a sleepy Joey and David behind him. They then followed me back home.
'' Why are you gusy being so awkward?''n Jess had asked me and Lia, once she finished her fourth pancake and helped herself to another, she loved food. ''We're not, hahaha.'' I said, trying to lighten the mood. Jess just shrugged and poured a mound of golden syrup on her golden pancake. ''Hey, i have a new joke for you all. I think you're gonna love it. What is it called when Llamas take over the world at an un-ruly pace?'' They all looked at me expectantly, apart from Lia who had pulled out her phone and was texting someone. Charlie probably. ''The ALPACALYPSE!!'' i yelled suddenly, deliberatly laughing. To my surprise, the only person who generally laughed was Judith. It was quite unexpected actually, as she laughed out loud and made snorting noises. It was so funny we all burst out laughing with her. ''I thought it was impossible for her to laugh..'' Ranya whispered to me, which made me laugh more. I looked over at Lia, just in time to see her big smile fade. David then broke the non talkativenes.
''Well, me and Joey have to go, we have to get to college. And Tyler has football club.'' He said, gazing at Jess who smiled a flirty smile back. ''In fact, i was glad we saw you guys this morning, as we'll be pretty busy for the rest of the week, but we wanted to know if you were up for going out friday night, and then having a sleepover at ours? You never come over anymore.'' He said a little sadly. Jess jumped at the idea, and screamed yes before anyone could protest. Kirsten and Judith tutted, and said ''Actually me and Kirsten have plans, we're going clubbing with our new boyfriends.'' Judith said puffing up her hair into her compact mirror. ''Who is it this week?'' Joey asked, a smirk on his face. Kirsten and judith simontaniously rolled their eyes and left the kitchen.
''Okay then. See you lovely gals friday.'' Tyler said giving us a thumbs up and leaving himself. ''Thanks for the oancakes, Ree.'' Joey added shyly. David just gave Jess a kiss on her head and winked at us all, leaving in a big triumph. ''Wooooww...'' Jess sighed. We all laughed at her and i started to collect the plates up, Ranya helping me.
