[ Emily's POV ]

I crawl off Niall's lap, falling into Louis' warm one instead.

"Hi baby." He greets me warmly, helping me sit up straighter.

"Hi." I whisper, mentally and physically exhausted.

"So, anything you really want from the store?" Louis asks, and I shrug in reply.

"How about a stuffed animal?" Harry asks, keeping his eyes trained on the road, so we don't crash.

"Sure." I tell him softly, careful not to make eye contact with him.

"Cool, what type of animal do you want?" Niall asks, as he types something on his phone.

"I don't know."

"What about a penguin?" Louis asks, and I sigh in annoyance.

"I said I don't know."

"Okay, okay, sorry. I was just trying to help." Louis murmurs, and instantly I feel the guilt creeping up on me.

"I sorry Lou." I tell him softly, turning around in his lap, so I'm facing him. He looks down at me, smiling.

"It's okay angel."

"I shouldn't have snapped at you like dat." Again, Louis smiles warmly at me.

"You're forgiven gorgeous."

"Would you like a big teddy bear?" Harry asks, and I giggle softly.

"But I already have one." Niall glances at me in confusion,

"What's his name?" He asks, and I place my hand over my mouth to keep from bursting into laughter.

"His name's, Liam."

"That's adorable!" Harry exclaims from the drivers seat. Liam turns around in his seat, smiling at me.

"Is that a new nickname for me?" He asks, and I nod.

"Yep! I'm gonna call you teddy bear from now on."

"Well I don't know if I like that." Liam tells me, and in an instant, tears spring to my eyes.

"No, no! I sorry, I won't call you that! Don't hit me!" I cry out, struggling to get off Louis' lap.

"Baby, no!" Louis whisper shrieks, as I fall onto the ground at his feet. My vision grows blurry with tears, but I can see the outline of someone reach down, and pick me up.

"Lemme go!!" I scream, wiggling around like a worm.

"Baby!" It's Liam, "I was just kidding! I think your nickname for me is adorable, I was just joking." When Liam tells me this, my crying comes to an end, and I wipe away the remaining tears that linger on my face.

"Really?" I ask, studying Liam's face closely, trying to make sure he isn't lying.

"Yes Em, I told you I'd never hurt you, and I plan on keeping that promise."

"I sorry I overreacted." I tell him, leaning in and giving him a hug.

"It's alright baby, I understand why you did." Liam whispers, hugging me tightly.

"Well, that was crazy!" Niall shouts from the back, and I grin at him.

"You good?" Louis asks, and I nod. "That's great to hear!"

"So, Em, what do you really want?" Harry asks, continuing to pester me about the stupid toy. I bite down on my tongue to keep from screaming at him. One, I'm still terrified of Harry. He hasn't said that much to me, and just his overall appearance is scary. And two, they've all done so much for me, I need to keep my temper from rising.

"I truly don't care." I whisper to Liam. He smiles down at me,

"Tell Harry sweetie."

"But I told you." I say quietly.

"But he's the one who addressed you, you need to answer back to him."

"Oh, um okay." I shift my body on Liam's lap, so I'm now facing Harry. "I don't really care what I get Harry." I tell him, and he glances at me from his seat right next to me.

"Alright baby, I'll keep that in mind." He informs me, and I smile.

A few minutes pass and the only sound that can be heard is the radio. No one is talking, and I'm just lost in my own little world. Liam's leg bounces up and down every now and then, pulling me out of my thoughts from the past. As the silence consumes me, I find myself thinking about my mommy. She was breath-takingly beautiful. Her hair was very golden, and her big blue eyes were always filled with joy. Her laugh was contagious, and whenever I was near her, I couldn't help but smile. She and my daddy loved each other very much, and together, the three of us were viewed as a perfect family. But then my mommy died, and everything fell apart.

I miss her. I miss her big bear hugs, that she'd give me everyday after pre-school. She made the best cookies I've ever had, and birthdays were the best, since she'd make fabulous cakes. Before I know it, a big, fat tear, is rolling down my cheek. As I go to wipe it away, I notice Louis glancing at me in concern. Sending a smile his way, I try to convince him that I'm okay, but I'm well aware that he doesn't buy it.

"Em, you alright there?" Louis asks, and I sniffle softly. Without warning, Louis leans forward and lifts me off Liam's lap, and into his own. Liam chuckles but is quick to pull out his phone after I'm gone. "Baby, what's wrong?" Louis whispers in my ear so quietly, that only I can hear. "I saw you crying."

"I was just thinking about my mommy, a-and how much I m-miss her." I choke out, my voice cracking every now and then. Louis sighs softly, pulling me into a warm hug.

"If I could bring her back to life Em, I would. But you know very well that isn't going to happen." He tells me, and I nod out of understanding.

"I know Lou, but it doesn't mean I can't wish."

"True, but it's best not to wish for the impossible. Just remember, you can't love someone back to life." He wisely informs me. As I turn around in Louis' lap, so I'm facing his chest, and my legs are wrapped around his waist, I whisper,

"You can try." Wrapping my arms around his torso, I make it so that I'm now hugging him. Burying my face into the soft fabric of his navy blue shirt, I find myself beginning to cry. Louis says nothing, he just strokes my hair soothingly, attempting to get me to calm down. None of the others say anything, but I know that they notice what is going on. I notice the radio has been shut off, and all that is heard is the sound of my pathetic and weak cries.

"I wanna go home." I say under my breath, so that no one hears me. And I don't mean back to where I used to live, I mean home. The place where my heart truly is.

The place where my mommy is.

Heaven.
