I imagined this as a kinda X-men first class and days of futures past one. So the girl is blind through her own eyes which are a different weird colour. She can see the world in her mind (kind of like google maps but she can go inside places. It's also like when you manually move around google maps. She can't just think of a place to see and sees it. She has to look. That's why she doesn't find Shaw instantly and it takes time.) there are two versions, one where people can feel a presence where she is looking, the other is obviously when there isn't a presences. So when Charles firsts meets Hank in first class that she, whoever you name your character to be, is his assistant and they know that each other are mutants which is kinda why Hank hired her in the first place. Obviously they get together. And it continues into DoFP.
